XBReboot v0.05 – OnBoard NAND XDK Homebrew Solution

XBReboot v0.05 – OnBoard NAND XDK Homebrew Solution More early xmas presents with XBReboot v0.05! Like freeBOOT v0.02 it will reboot into a patched 8955 kernel. However, this one can be flashed directly in your onboard NAND flash, no need for an expensive 2-nand solution!! Before flashing it on your system, you will have to dump your console specific KeyVault (kv.bin) from your dumped Xbox 360 NAND image and put it inside the hacked image with nandpro: "nandpro XBR.bin: -w16 yourrawkv.bin 1 1" Afaik, this initial version of XBReboot will only work on Xenon (v1) motherboards, but it's probably only a matter of time before it's made for other motherboard revisions. Again, this hack relies on the JTAG hack to boot into XeLL and do the reboot to the patched 8955 with virtual fuses, so will only work with 360s that don't have the new bootloader. The hack contains no readme/nfo so for now that's all the info we can confirm, but I assume it has the same patches as freeBOOT v0.02. Official Site: n/a, by ? freeBOOT v0.02 – runs unsigned XEX and more!

freeBOOT v0.02 – runs unsigned XEX and more! Ikari360 released a new version of freeBOOT. This new version of the 'rebooter' will launch right into a patched version the latest MS dash (8955) and will now also work on Zephyr and Jasper-16mb console (next to the original support for Xenon and Falcon). But the even bigger news in this v0.02 is that the kernel is patched! No more XEX signature checks, LIVE/PIRS signature checks and Harddisk authentication … which basically makes homebrew XDK possible on retail Xbox 360! freeBOOT must be installed on a 2nd 'NAND' … including the (homebrew) xD-card mod! But of course, this still requires the JTAG hack, so it's only possible on Xbox360 where the onboard NAND has never been updated to 849x (July 09) or newer. From the readme: freeBOOT is a rebooter for the Microsoft Xbox 360. This version of freeBOOT allows you to reboot into kernel 2.0.8955 on all Xenon, Zephyr, Falcon, and Jasper consoles with 16MB flashes, which are vulnerable to the JTAG hack. I.Support for Opus and Jasper consoles with larger flashes will follow soon. As freeBOOT needs a second flash memory to store kernel 2.0.8955 and associated data, either a Cygnos360 or an xD card mod is required at the moment. II. Bug Fixes * Harddisk installation and save game/profile issues have been fixed III. New Features * updated to kernel 8955 * additional support for Zephyr and Jasper consoles with 16MB flashes * support for xD card mod and Cygnos360 V1 added * Harddisk authentication disabled The Xbox 360 will now accept any SATA harddisk. * removed XEX signature checks Execution of unsigned devkit and retail XEXes is now possible. Encrypted devkit XEXes must be decrypted with XexTool(info) prior to use. * removed LIVE/PIRS signature checks The dashboard will now run applications from unsigned LIVE/PIRS containers. * extendable patch system Researchers/hackers can now try new patches...

All Liteon (74850, 83850, 93450) Firmware/Key Dump – Update

All Liteon (74850, 83850, 93450) Firmware/Key Dump – Update Earlier we reported on the controversial news posted at Xboxhacker.net that the backdoor for dumping all Liteon drives firmware had been made public however it involved removal of epoxy resin and the lifting of pins – so obviousley not for the beginner and was a sure way to see the forums flooded with "OMGZZZ I FuX0ReD MY DR1VE" posts. MRA from Xboxhacker.net has now posted an updated method which requires no epoxy removal, no lifting of pins and just a very small amount of soldering. Again not fior beginners but it opens the doors for a lot more people to be able to have a crack at this themselves. We should add (the obvious) that using a fiber glass pen will remove the surface resin/flux from the PCB giving you a nice easy contact to solder to. No pin lifting or epoxy removing needed anymore! Just solder anything on the back according to this picture. Also if you got status 0x52 instead of 0x72 with the "1,8V-method" this should do it. I already dumped 4 drives with this method without any issues. switch in pos 1 power drive start Dosflash –> SPI should get recognized with status 0x72 put switch in pos 2 click "read" unsolder anything and reconnect the lines that have been cut. Liteon 83850-v2 and Liteon 93450 DVD Key Can Now Be Dumped ?

Liteon 83850-v2 and Liteon 93450 DVD Key Can Now Be Dumped ? There have been several news reports on Xboxhacker.net of users having success in dumping the entire firmware including the important keys of the newest un-moddable Liteon DVD drives. The methods posted so far are not for the beginner so do so at your own risk. The method seem crude at the moment, no doubt some easier methods will surface shortly. Remember with that DVD key you can install any flash-able DVD drive to that once un-moddable Xbox 360. Good job to all involved ! -Lift pin 101 and 122 (The MT Chip) -solder a cable to pin 100, pin 101 and one to 3,3V -use a 2-way switch which either connects 101 to 3,3V or to 100 -put the switch into the position so that it connects 100 to 101 -power drive -start Dosflash, it will recognize the SPI with Status x72 -if you read it out now, it will just give you a .bin full of FFFFFFFF, but that's OK, this is how we tricked the Flash Controller to think the SPI is empty -put the switch in the other position (so that 101 is connected to 3,3V) -now read the flash Discuss this news on our forums You can read the full thread including a lot more information and pictures at this link:...

KeyVault Modder v1D

KeyVault Modder v1D Zouzzz posted another new application on gx-mod.com This application allows you to read-out and modify some KeyVault data from your NAND image (will require your unique CPU-key – which as reminder you can't get if you upgraded to kernel 849x or higher). You can spoof ur DVD drive on KV-side (rather than spoofing the actual drive), change your game-region and read-out/change the DVD-key. What's new/fixed: – add compatibly with kv.bin extract with BinCrypt – size detection – some small changes Official Site: by Zouzzz at gx-mod.com Download: here Original Source:...

3 Tools to Help UnCripple Your Xbox360 HDD

3 Tools to Help UnCripple Your Xbox360 HDD A few tools have been released to help you uncripple your HDD after ban, so you don't have to do it all manually. * FindSecData v0.4 (by boby2pc) I wrote little program to extract secdata.bin and filetable of NAND dump. It uses patch latest secdata.bin method (not delete method). Changelog: * v0.11 Fixed regional settings problem. * v0.2 support for 256 MB and 512 MB NANDs implemented. * v0.3 Different NAND controller support * v0.4 – "ommit timestamp" parameter removed – this is now default – added parameter to show more recomendations – "recommandation" algoritm changed – support for gaps in filesystem table version Official Site: n/a, by boby2pc on xboxhacker.net Download: here * Secdata Scan v0.2 (by zouzzz) Secdata Scan is a small utility that will save you manually open your NAND dump to find the address to hex edit to restore the functionality of the hdd after a ban. Once you load your nand image in Secdata, it will show you the last secdata updated on your console and the real address of this bloc to use with with nandpro. Official Site: by zouzzz at gx-mod.com Download: here * 360 HDFR v1.03 (by SoulHeaven) (French) 360 Hard Disk Functinalities Restorer v1.03 will allow you to patch your nand automatically in order to restore the functionality to install games on your harddrive on a banned Xbox 360. Does the same as Secdata Scan but with more functionality: – Show you the real date of secdata update – Can generate a zero filled file from your nand image for nanpro – Can patch your nand for Cygnos v2 Note: does not work on 256/512MB NANDs yet. UnCripple your Xbox 360 HDD After a BAN

UnCripple your Xbox 360 HDD After a BAN There's been a discussion thread on Xbox-Scene forums about a way to 'uncripple' your harddrive AFTER you got banned. As you know Microsoft decided to 'remove' some HDD features (like play games from HDD, etc) when your console gets banned. Microsoft does this by modifying data in the secdata.bin on the NAND (that's why write-lock the NAND was a way to prevent HDD-crippling). But people found out the NAND has an older (backup?) copy of secdata.bin stored on the NAND as well. Now the hack consists of copying the old version of secdata.bin on the location of the new/current secdata.bin. Both secdata.bin are tagged with a date stamp so you can easily find out which one is the new and old one. As your console is already banned, it does not really matter if MS can detect this or not. Thwack wrote a good tutorial for this This is pure HEX editing in the NAND image, no CPU-key or whatever is needed. However, for those new in dumping the Xbox 360 NAND … if you do via LTP with nandpro, make sure to dump it a few times and compare to make sure your image is good. Before wild stories go around … this does NOT unban your console from LIVE. Read More: original thread | tutorial Original Source:...

Microsoft's Xbox Live chief on bans: not 1 Million

Microsoft's Xbox Live chief on bans: not 1 Million From venturebeat.com: We sat down this week with Marc Whitten, the general manager of Xbox Live, to catch up on the latest with the service at the Streaming Media West show. * VB: There were stories that talked about how Microsoft knocked out a lot of modders from Xbox Live. I recall that early on there were maybe 1 or 2 percent of the people who were using modded machines. Why would there be such a large number now? One report said it was a million modders knocked out. * MW: It's a cat and mouse game. These were people that were pirating software. We try to keep sanctity of life from a safety and anti-cheating perspective and we protect our partners. We didn't release the number. I cannot explain to you why people would think it was a million people. It wasn't a million people. Check the veracity of that claim. It was one news source. I think we do a really good job understanding what people are doing on the system. That applies to intellectual property (piracy) and how we treat the community in terms of harassment. We are committed to making it better and better. Full Interview: venturebeat.com Original Source:...

XVal 2.0 and Xbox Image Browser v1.0

XVal 2.0 and Xbox Image Browser v1.0 Redline99 released 2 new tools: XVal 2.0 The X value is used as a visual indication of security "events". This value is from a field stored in secdata.bin, offset 0x28 for a length of 8 bytes. It is visually displayed from dashboard in one of the system info screens. The X value is encrypted though and this tool will decrypt and display known recorded security events. The console does not need to be connected to Live to do this procedure. At the same time this does not guarantee that the console with a "clean" X value has not been flagged on the server side. This can be used as a tool to check the status of a second-hand console and be valuable information in considerations before purchasing. Xbox Image Browser v1.0 This application allows file extraction from xbox xdvdfs iso's. It should have the same capabilities as Xbox Backup Creator. I made this a long time ago for a friend and never got around to releasing it for others. Sorry to Vista and Windows 7 people, the app will run but you will probably need to install additional components. Prevent HDD Crippling After Ban – NAND write protect diagram

Prevent HDD Crippling After Ban – NAND write protect diagram From eurasia.nu: GodzIvan strikes again, this time with a diagram which simply write protects the NAND flash in the Xbox 360 by connecting WP to ground pin (if the flash type has different pinout, just find the datasheet to locate WP). This modification does not stop the ban from M$, but it prevents deletion of the HD installation certificates required by games which means you can still install them on the hard drive. In order to update the kernel this mod must be disabled; a simple switch solution comes to mind. Original Source:...

New Dashboard Features to 'Appear' Without System Update Major Nelson posted a tweet about the dashboard update (with facebook, last.fm etc support) that will be released Tuesday: I have to correct myself: When we turn on the new features tomorrow they'll just appear! No need for a system update. So did MS already include all the features in that small WPA2-fix (8955) they released a few weeks ago and do they just have to activate the new features somehow (via LIVE?) or do they have another trick up their sleeves? Free60 JTAG/SMC XeLL Hack for Jasper-256/512mb Motherboards

Free60 JTAG/SMC XeLL Hack for Jasper-256/512mb Motherboards This NAND image will boot your Xbox360 right into XeLL, which allows you to launch linux distros or run libxenon homebrew software, as long as you never upgraded it via the normal MS upgrade procedures to kernel 849x or higher. From the readme/nfo: Finally the Jasper JTAG Hack is here This is XELL (Redline99's XeLL) inserted into 6723 Jasper-Kernel. This was actually released last week already, but with all the BAN news we kinda missed it (but we're still the first site to report about it ;)) … so here it is After the release of the hack for Xenon, Falcon/Opus, Zephyr and Jasper-16mb motherboards, here's the Free60 JTAG/SMC XeLL Hack for Jasper (v4) motherboards with 256 and 512mb NAND chips. Don't wonder about the Filesize, its correct like that. It just flashes the beginning of the NAND so your console specific data like MAC adress will stay. Of course you should have a working backup of your NAND before you proceed. *** NOTE *** It's for the Large Block Jaspers, 256MB and 512MB 😉 Someone also sent us this nice diagram made by Sandungas about how to wire the JTAG hack and SPI (for NAND reading/writing via LTP with nandpro) on Falcon/Zephyr/Jasper motherboards. Unbanning Xbox 360 From Live – The Facts

Unbanning Xbox 360 From Live – The Facts Some useful info from Xbox-Scene regarding rescuing banned Xbox's I see lots of sites posting today about a way to unban Xbox 360 from LIVE often linking to a thread made on our forums here. This method has been known for a long time (since the King Kong Exploit days) and does indeed 'work'. Basically you swap the Keyvault (or 'KV' in short, it stores stuff like console certificates, per-box private keys, DVD key, etc) inside the NAND with the KV from an unbanned console. While technically very different you could somewhat compare it to swapping eeprom data during the Xbox1 days. However there's a (really) big 'IF' (besides the required tech knowledge) … you need the (unique) CPU key of your banned console – without it you can't correctly write the new KV data in the NAND bin of your banned console. Now you wonder how to get the CPU-key … well by running XeLL of course! To run XeLL u need to perform the JTAG hack (or the King Kong exploit, but that's even more outdated) … and if you got banned the last few weeks it means you updated to the latest dashboard/kernel (else you can't get on LIVE). And that's the problem… Microsoft patched the JTAG hack since kernel 849x (July 2009) … so no way to boot up XeLL (= no realistic way for you to get the CPU-key atm) and thus no way to swap the KV data in your NAND image. And then there's also added KV protection (hashing) on newer motherboards (Falcon+ ?), but if you can't even get your CPU-key it doesn't matter much to do deeper into this problem. The only way it would work is if you retrieved the CPU-key of your old banned 360 before you updated to anything over 849x. If you did that you probably...

abgx360 v1.0.2

abgx360 v1.0.2 abgx360 v1.0.2 has been officially released. Special Note: It's recommended to wait for iXtreme LT (Lite Touch) before you play any more backups or originals on an unbanned console flashed with custom firmware. Changes affecting all platforms: Added support for 4th Wave PFI/Video Added support for SS v2 Added the new check for DMI corruption which the database has been using since 2009/06/14 Added ability to at least try to verify the game data when no Xex/SS ini is available and we're not going to AutoFix Added support for Avatar Awards Added option to select your preferred language to use when displaying strings from the Xex title resource Added drag & drop support for the GUI Input panel Added option to embed images in the HTML source code as data URIs for better portability (when using HTML output) Added JavaScript to HTML output that allows you to check off achievements and see the achieved text (especially useful when the how-to text is vague) Added a Donate button to the GUI so you can help me pay the bills and continue working on improvements Removed "Look for verified files in the local folder only" option from the GUI. I can't tell you how many people have checked this box without reading it because they saw it in a tutorial or someone else told them to do it, and then they can't figure out why abgx360 says you need to enable online functions. Please stop writing/following tutorials! Just read the Quickstart topics, the tutorial is right there. Checking for updates to GameNameLookup.csv is now optional (the csv was eating 50% of our bandwidth and you probably don't need it anyway since the game name can be retrieved directly from the Xex) Fixed a bug where folders would be considered files when parsing the ISO filesystem on some recent games Fixed a...

BBC Reports on Xbox Live Bans

BBC Reports on Xbox Live Bans It didn't take long for the "Official" media outlets to grab onto this news. The BBC has reported on the recent wave of Xbox Live Bans. As you know Microsoft has been banning consoles from accessing the Xbox Live network. It hasn't been determined what has flagged the console to be bannable or not as there are still many consoles that have the iXtreme firmware that have not been banned. Thousands of gamers may have been cut off from Microsoft's online gaming service Xbox Live for modifying their consoles to play pirated games. Online reports suggest that as many as 600,000 gamers may have been affected. Microsoft confirmed that it had banned a "small percentage" of the 20 million Xbox Live users worldwide. Microsoft said that modifying an Xbox 360 console "violates" the service's "terms of use" and would result in a player being disconnected. "All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live," Microsoft has said in a statement. "The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them." Many gamers modify their consoles by installing new chips or software that allows them to run unofficial programs. Some chips are specifically designed to play pirated games. Microsoft has not said how it was able to determine which gamers to disconnect. "We do not reveal specifics, but can say that all consoles have been verified to have violated the terms of use," the firm said in a statement. Reports suggest that the ban does not stop the console from working and only affects a gamer's Xbox Live account. Industry figures suggest...

Rumour: Insider says MS Plans to Ban 1M Console

Rumour: Insider says MS Plans to Ban 1M Console From pinoycosplay.blogspot.com: A conversation with a friend who works for a call center that handles an Xbox 360 account has yielded a disturbing truth: Microsoft has started its annual Xbox Live banning spree and it has disabled 600,000 accounts so far in the US and Canada. The target of the banning spree are mainly people who have modified their consoles to play pirated games. My trusty source says that they have been given instructions to push for a million banned accounts by the time the holidays are over Note: This is just a rumour and there's no real way to check or confirm this kinda information. But it points out an interesting discussion, how many consoles do you think MS banned? The site claims 600k are banned already just in US and CA. If we know MS sold about 19M consoles in that region to-date it would mean they already banned about 3.16% of their user-base … News-Source:...
