This is already on the Xbox-Scene news page and has been so for a while. The guy has hacked the X3 BIOS to use it on any 1MB modchip. The settings listed are embedded since the X3 BIOS relies on the X3 EEPROM in order to work properly.

I can only see it as progress, given the lack of good 1.6 BIOSes for X2 chips.
