Sorry if this was addressed somewhere earlier in this forum, I haven't been able to find it...

I hooked up the liteon to the ck3lite to my Via 6421, plugged in the serial
port, installed Porti032 successfully, ran jungleflash, and I was able to see
the drive, identified as 'Vendor: PLDS Name:DG-16025', located on the sata port. I turned on the ck3lite w/blue light, ejected the tray, turned off the ck3lite, pushed the tray halfway in, turned back on the ck3lite, and tried to dump the key. I am always able to get the inquiry.bin & identify.bin okay, but my key always shows up as '000000000000000000 Bad Key' (NOT CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC interestingly) According to the tutorial, I keep repeating the power cycle and setting the tray halfway (also tried 1/4 and 3/4 way in) as instructed like about 20 times, but always the exact same results.

I didn't use a probe, but soldered the points R707 and R708. I have decent
experience in soldering (I modded original xbox and my wii with modchips
successfully) and retouched the points several times to make sure. Then it
dawned on me, maybe my serial port is not working? Based on this infomation, is it my soldering that is bad (so I will buy a probe), or is it my serial port (can you show me, or directed me to a guide, on how to use Realterm to test it?)

Thanks for all of your support!

OK! For all of you having problems with VIA 6421 and CK3pro, follow the following guide and you will no longer receive CCCCCCC's with CK3 pro and VIA.

Make sure you have installed USB drivers and PORTIO32 as Team Xecuter states. Then

- Power off your PC computer
- Make sure CK3 On/Off switch is OFF
- Connect SATA cable from your VIA 6421 controller to the Liteon drive
- Connect the PC molex connector to CK3 pro
- Connect the power cable from the CK3 pro to Liteon
- Connect the the USB cable from CK3 pro to the PC USB port
- Turn ON Computer power and go intoo BIOS Screen or dual boot OS selection in order to pause bootup process
- Turn OFF CK3 pro power. Make sure the modeb light is blue
(If you have a CK3 probe it will lit blue as well)
- Press Eject button on CK3 pro.
- DVD Tray should will eject. Push in DVD tray more than half way in, with your hand.
- Turn OFF CK3 pro power!!!
-Let your PC boot into Windows XP
- Turn ON CK3 pro power

You can now use either JungleFlash or CK3 Tool 1.2.4 and you can read your drive's key!!!!

Let me now if that guide helped you!

KingDRAGON you are f***ing genius.
I spent 3 days trying to figure out why the hell I get 0s when trying to get the key and after your comments I was able to dump the key right away.
I have CK3 PRO (without the prob, I shorted/soldered the points on the drive mobo) with VIA 6421 SATA on PCI slot, running on Win2K. One comment I have is that in the TE Lite-On tutorial it says to click Erase , but for Lite-On drives should click Lite-On Erase button.
Once again thanks KingDRAGON for the help.

4. Connect SATA cable from your VIA 6421 controller to the Liteon drive
5. Connect the PC molex connector to CK3 pro
6. Connect the power cable from the CK3 pro to Liteon (be sure to connect it the right way)
7. Connect the the USB cable from CK3 pro to the PC USB port
8. Turn ON Computer power and go into BIOS Screen or dual boot OS selection sceen in order to pause bootup process
9. Turn ON CK3 pro power. Make sure the modeb light is lit blue (If you have a CK3 probe it then itwill lit blue as well)
10. Press the Eject button on CK3 pro.
11. DVD Tray should eject. Push in DVD tray more than half way in, with your hand.
12. Turn OFF CK3 pro power!!!
13. Let your PC boot into Windows XP
14. Turn ON CK3 pro power.

Use either JungleFlash or CK3 Tool 1.2.4 and you can read your drive's key!!!!

You can use JungleFlash to also flash ix5 to your drive.
In MTKFLASH32 screen the correct procedure is to select the LITE-ON-ERASE button and NOT the ERASE button as stated in the tutorial. Also make sure that you do exactly as told when hit the LITE-ONE ERASE button if you have VIA or your PC will freeze and you will need to use l-o-eras and dosflash then to be able to flash your drive.

Hi you said
2. Connect power from the CK3 to the Hitachi DVD using the CK3 Probe blue power cable (the end that has the black Probe cable is the end that plugs to the DVD Drive - See Image 2) (make sure the connections are the right way around - there are guides on the connectors to help you - plug in the wrong way around and you will damage the drive or CK3 - remember it's a power cable). Connect a molex power source to the CK3 (to be safe make sure the CK3 power switch is set to OFF). Connect the SATA cable from the DVD drive to your PC SATA. To connect the USB (CK3 PRO) or Serial Cable (CK3 LITE) to the PC USB or SERIAL PORT (See Image 4) you first need to make sure you have the PortIO32 drivers installed (plus the CK3 USB drivers if you have the CK3 PRO) See Image 5. Now turn the CK3 power switch to ON. To check the power cable is working press the eject switch so that the tray ejects. Once ejected manually push the tray half in, this must be done for the key dumping to work. The led should also be blue on the CK3 (Modeb Off), and blue on the CK3 Probe. See Image3 to show how everything should look.
but you said Hitachi DVD dont you mean Liteon also how can i tell if the connections are the right way????

KingDRAGON
30th December 08, 07:58
The Team-Xecuter guide refers to LiteON DVD (the Hitachi DVD is typo error).

You can tell the connection are right by seeing the pics at first and second there is only one way the power clips fit to each other (see the plastic rails on each connector)...

Since at least 50% of the people have to go into dos to flash their liteons due to the via pc freeze why don't you guys make an all-in-one Dos extractor, patcher and flasher, otherwise the CK3 purchase is useless since you have to use external (third party) programs to finish the work

this is a nonsense comment. The Ck3 uses 3rd party software anyway. It always amazes me the easier you make something to use the more problems certain people get as they are people who usually give something as easy as this to someone who can actually do it correctly without any fuss.

Regarding our tutorial - its perfect and works for everyone I have spoken to who have followed it correctly. Of course we can only guide people on how to set their PC up - so most of the problems people are having are sata based - not CK3 based.

you have done other liteons yourself before with your ck3 and probe so you know the hardware works so i can only suggest you start again.

You don't seem to understand, I'm having no problems whatsoever (everything done in pure dos) but as a CK3 purchaser i'd like better support from the team, can't you guys pay a programmer to implement the CK3 Tool so that it's easier to use (meaning A-Z, Via compatible and bugfree) without the third party software involved?

Note: We paid for the product (didn't get it for free).

Geez, this is a pain! Following KingDRAGON's earlier post I was able to dump the key/inquiry/identify bins. I could not get an erase response from Jungleflasher at all, so I popped into DOS and used the Liteon Erase Dosflash command to erase the flash, which seems to have worked.

I then created the hacked firmware as per the Jungleflasher guide and saved that. However, I can seem to flash it back to the Liteon. As before, I can't get Jungleflasher to see the drive in the right status, and trying Dosflash as per the quoted cofree post toggles the status between status D2 and 52.

Gah! Any ideas brainiacs?

Managed to get it in the end, used l-o-erease in dos a few times, and that gave me the right status code.

Ran Dosflash a coiple times and it picked up the drive and the flash details, and from there I was able to flash the firmware I created in JungleFlasher.

Phew!

Im hoping this will work for me as well. I tried many times last night but my pc kept freezing every time i loaded JungleGUI. I also tried ck3tool but it couldnt find the correct ports, never found my drive.
I need to check that my VIA card drivers arnt installed.

Ill post results later. Ive flashed BenQ, Hitachi & Samsung before this but never tried a liteon - previously i flashed using Dosflash

Xecuter team R0CKS!!!

Just finished flashing the recent catastrophe of my life (yes, the DG-16D2S Liteon). It went very smooth. Here's what I used, hardware as well as a big tip for newbies.

Windows XP Pro SP3
I'm using the SATA builtin ports Nvidia Nforce 590/570/550. Of course remember to set these to IDE mode in BIOS, if they're set to RAID.

The eject button I had to play with a little to get it working, had to be worn-in sort of speak.

So I made a spear myself, it was really easy, use a wire to wire11 and soldered to a needle. I had to scrape that 707 point around a little, the needle was too thin and didn't make contact very well. So i got rid of it and just used the wire, twisted it a little and touched on top of the now clean r707. Took a few tries at first, read all 0s in Jungleflasher, but all Cs in Xecutor's tool. Anyhow, just power cycled it, and voila, it read it. So i gave it a few cycles, key was all the same.

So the next little issue I ran into was erasing the Liteon flash. It kept giving me 0x80 and 0xD2 instead of 0x72. So i launched my usb stick and into dos mode, used ixtreme's i-o-erase and it worked like a charm! Booted back into windows, ran jungleflash again, it recognized the drive's flash id this time and flashed it in under 1 min.

All is working, take that micro$haft! Nice job Xecuter!

So the biggest tip is, if jungleflasher isn't erasing the drive's flash after first couple of times, it won't work in windows. I used iprep to make my usb bootable (you can use cd-rom or floppy, i don't have a floppy so i used usb stick). Replaced all the files with the ones from ixtreme 1.5 and voila. Just boot real fast into DOS with that stick and typed in i-o-erase <portid> it gave me 0x82 the first time, so i ran that again and came up with a clean 0x72! Boot back to windows and flash as instructed from that point on.

If i load PortIO32.exe Jungle flasher GUI will not run and locks up my PC

I i unistall PortIO32 drivers then Jungle GUI will load but i cant use my CK3 Pro properly.

What is causing the conflict ? I thought these worked together?

Using VIA 6421 card which has been used in the past or Hitachi, Samsung & BenQ - I used a CK1 with them tho

Are you freezing when trying to erase the flash of your Liteon? I remember that for VIAs you have to switch ON/OFF in <1 sec to avoid freezing.

Make sure that PORTIO32 is correctly installed on your Windows 32bit XP PC. Do not use Vista or Windows 7 or 64bit version of XP.
Make sure you have .NET 2.0 framework or higher installed
Make sure that you have administrative privileges also.

Correction - Updating the DG-160D25 works just fine using Vista or Windows 7 people just kills me telling others what not to use.. just following the directions correctly and power cycle the drive in less then 1sec and you will be fine... if you take longer then that you will just need to use dos to flash the drives I have done about 20 drives in Vista and 3 in Windows 7 no issues. People use many different methods the only one thats 100% is flashing in dos but all the other methods works just fine. Just use whats best for you.

That's true. I used a DOS/Windows mix of flashing.

Read key in windows, drive's flash wouldn't post with 0x72, so use dos with l-o-erase, worked great.

Just booted back into windows, ran jungle again and it picked up the drive that it was clean, flashed it in <1 min.

Using XP.

KingDRAGON
19th January 09, 11:47
OK then we will wait on your tutorial using Windows 7 that will work flawlessly or even Vista one.

People just dont know that they have to be admin to run jungleflasher on Vista (or run as admin) and we are talking on letting them do dual boot configuration between Windows/DOS to flash their LiteOn, or use IPREP.

Keep it simple...

tonyintn
19th January 09, 14:24
Just keep in mind none are flawless even in XP but we just do not what people to think they cant use their existing OS to do what hundreds have already done with little to no problem. It all starts with Reading the How-TO instructions already out there heck there are many read two of them do not do this as you go but Read first and understand what you are doing. Once you understand what you are doing you can find other ways of doing it to best suit yourself.

You would be suprised how many people do this as they go then when timing is the key they are screw because of the lapse in time they lost trying to read it at the same time.

Im using XP Pro - never touched Vista, not likely too.

After following the Noobs guide to flashing, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers for VIA card, Iprep now says it no longer supports the card.

Ive tried reading using dosflash v1.7 via serial cable and all i get is "DVD Key is Invalid"

KingDRAGON
26th January 09, 08:10
BTW, be very careful with the guide posted here in TEAMXECUTER site when extracting your key, because you WILL LOSE YOUR SERIAL and can not get it back.

Use JungleFlash in order to extract your key (key.bin, identify.bin and inquiry.bin) and ALSO make sure you have dummy.bin also.
The last file contains your SERIAL number of Liteon. If you follow Team Xecuter guide as they tell you they say to use the key.bin identify.bin and inquiry.bin to make this dummy.bin but with this method the created dummy.bin HAS NOT SERIAL of the Liteon but only the KEY.

If you have already used this guide then your liteon has been flashed with IX5 key in order to boot backups but has no SERIAL number and there is no way to get this serial back.

27th January 09, 16:21
Finally had success with JungleFlasher GUI v0.0.43 - i used the included PortIO drivers and had no freezing issues at all. I also had updated my VIA drivers to v5.80.

Awesome GUI - so easy to follow and saves the dummy.bin as KingDragon says.

When i tried via serial cable it said the data was bad so i had to do it via USB. Now i know why it wasnt working in DOS. Either my serial cable is bad or the port is.

successful steps following tutorial plus a few changes:

1: PortIO32 had some issue with the drivers, I have to do the add hardware thing.

2: Com port field not populated, manual entry for usb reaped no results.kept getting 0's on read steps. grabbed a serial cable and manually entered port #
"COM1"

3: CK3 pro and probe wouldn't return anything but 0's doing the steps I read in the forum. I had to do the eject, try halfway, power off and on right before the probe read. placed probe in place then clicked the button, woot.

4: Erase button and get device step didnt work on the two I had. Clicking on the Lite-on erase button clicking yes or ok then turning the dvd off and on quickly worked both times.

5: Got cannot open file when selecting the liteon firmware. I had to move the file to the directory with the jungleflash.exe(whatever the name) for it to allow it to be done.

hopefully these steps will help because if you follow that tutorial to precision i would still be without 2 new modded boxes.

Replying to some of your problems, i had the same, directly connected to the main board of my biostar a770 i would have to restart my whole pc and then power cycle the ck3 again to be recognized sometimes. When i would get a 000 or CCC code usually the drive was not technically there, so RESTART, Cycke CK3. When you first turn the comp on switch on the ck3, then bios may or may not see it. If it does chances are you will be recognized in windows too. Then you can use ck3 software or jungleflash. I actually got stuck after the erase part. But, i was able to fix that with some coffee and dos-flash! For some reason when my drive was erased, after i made all the keybackups etc. Jungleflasher wouldnt do the job after? So i saw a guide w dosflash32, and just used dos flash to finish, and enter the created fw from jungleflash. Im very happy now. But i think maybe the very end steps should have alternative guides in case of other hardware issues and what not. Either way you guys are genious. Thank you Team Xecuter =) Very Smart.

Hi,

I recently received the CK3 Pro and CK3 Probe in the mail. Today I decided to attempt to mod my Liteon drive. (I have windows vista btw.) I installed the PORTIO32 driver and

1. Connected CK# Pro to the drive.
2. Attached the probe.
4. Connected the sata cable to my Intel board.
5. Connected the sata to the drive.
6. Connected USB.
7. Connected the power to CK3 Pro.

After all of this I turned the CK3 Pro on and got the Blue LED light. I opened Jungle Flasher 23 and got some .net error so I downloaded the Jungle Flasher 43 Beta(Has support for vista supposedly.) I run Jungle Flasher and a window pops up saying "No I/O ports were found!" then a .net error pops up. After trying that a few times I decided to try the CK3 Tool. I open it up and I search for a COM. It finds it and then I search for ports... After the search is done i clicked query ports and then the dropdown box and I didn't see anything related to what I was looking for in there. Could someone please help me!

Here are my computer devices.

Common guys this is really getting old it has been discussed time and time again.. if you are flashing a drive and it freezes prepare a flash drive and use dos to flash the drive... there are tons of examples around and tons of replys on how to do this google or use the search button.

I agree tony...haha

But... does anyone know if the tutorials will be updated to match the new version of jungle flasher and new 1.51 firmware?

Hey, was wondering im doing the CK3 probe, and in jungleflasher when i first started trying it my COM3 came up now, i cant get it to come up anymore, i tried it pluged in through USB and Serial, but its only showing COM1 and it shows the sata details for the lite-on correctly on other side. If anyone knows how to fix this very appreciated, its getting so annoying.

Hi

Thanks to Xecuter for the CK3 Pro and intructions, but need some help

I have new xbox (so liteon latest)
I'm using onboard sata
using CK3 PRO with probe
I'm using jungleflash 1.51

Plugged everything in and when trying to get the 4 different .bin files i got some error message that pops up with a *WARNING* but is actually an error

cycled the drive a couple of times and got a few good key dumps, just a couple of things really

1. is there a way that i can double check that the keys i have are actually good

the reason i ask is because, i tried to key dump again and got the *WARNING* error message so i'm not convinced that the keys are right

I just wanted to check before erasing the firmware

also i looked on the MTK flash tab page and the drive doesn't show up in the right hand side but shows up under the left hand side, i'm guessing i'll need to use the iprep thingy

thanks for all your help

Hi,
I am new to flashing with any kind of tools so bear with me.
I have flashed several 360s before, they were all BenQ drives and I have used iprep. I have an Asus motherboard with an onboard VIA controller so that is what I used in the past and that is what I will be using to flash the Liteon drive.

I ordered the CK3 Pro kit with the Probe and until it arrives I am trying to plan out the exact procedure I need to do. I read through a few tutorials but still have some questions.

1)Since I am using the onboard controller for both my hard disk and to connect the Liteon, will my computer boot if I uninstall my controller drivers and install the IOPort drivers?
1B)If I cannot install the driver(IOPort)what is my dos alternative?

2)Is the probe only needed to extract the key?

3)If I have to use DOS tools as opposed to JungleFlasher, can I still connect the CK3 through USB or do I have to use a serial connection?

Thanks

Hi! To answer you questions:
1) i dont know!
1B) use this tutorial and try to install PortIO32 http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/iriez/N00B_LiteOn_Flash_with_VIA.pdf if it dosent work you can use this tutorial to dos flash (prankster.freeserverhost.com/Xbox%20360/liteon_dosflash_tutorial_v1.01.pdf)

2) Yes as far as i know

3) you can use the USB connection

Hope it helps :) Regards

Xzorn, thank you.

That second link is exactly what I wanted, it's simple and I know that I can do it in DOS since I have done BenQ drives in DOS before.

I just got my CK3 Pro and followed the tutorial but at the erase section the instructions need to be revised, the instructions don't say when to reset the drive and the program doesn't say to reboot it as soon as you click ok, needless to say I just bricked my drive.

Something wonky here.

When I click on the "PORTIO32" (http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/downloads.htm#portio32)

To download the PORTIO32 file, it takes me to a dead page:

that says "THIS ID DOES NOT EXIST!"

The same thing happens when I click on the "CK3 USB Drivers" link and the "Jungle Flashers GUI App" link in the tutorial.

I must be doing something retarded.

I agree it needs to be re-written but you didn't brick it VIA just doesn't like talking to it now. Need to use iPrep to do it now. From what I've read its hard to brick a lite-on. The method that works for me is to use Jungle to dump the keys and create the cfw and use iprep to erase/flash.

ok, so here's my situation. I flashed my liteon about 2 months ago with 1.5 just fine. everything went smooth. After doing some research, I decided to give 1.51 a go. Everything went very smooth again, I managed to crack open my drive again in order to repair the broken dummy.bin from version 1.5, but when I got to the write stage, it would stall when writing bank 0, then promptly fail the write verification! After a couple of re-tries to write with the same results, I thought maybe I didn't get a clean erase even though jungle flasher said it was ok. So I then tried to erase the drive a second time, after the power cycle my drive froze, my computer froze, and now the drive won't respond to any pushes of the eject button. Is my drive bricked? is there anything I can do to get it back? or will I be purchasing an arcade machine in the near future?

Sounds like it has erased ok now. JF can be quirky with blank Liteons so you will need to complete the flash in dos with iprep.

Hi everybody,

I'm having a problem. I have a motherboard with AMD 790FX chipset (MSi K9A2 Platinium) and I connect the drive on the onboard SATA. The problem is that jungleflasher.exe does not seem to see the drive. It seems to be seen by windows as it appears in the device manager. Has someone manage to make it work on AMD chipset motherboard ?

Thanks.

Hi all, i'm quite new to all this. So far i've only flashed 6 or so xbox's, i've just flashed my first Lite-on. I noticed the tutorial was for an old version of jungle flasher and there's a few differences in version 0.1.55 which i'll list to hopefully help some of you.
At the start, when you hit the get key button if the tray is not in the correct postion i got a "bad serial data" error.....if anybody gets this try moving the tray a bit.
After successfully obtaining the key and saving the results, you're prompted to autoload the xtreme software which i did. This cuts out the part of the tutorial where you load the dump and target files in Firmwaretool 32.
In the erase section, you actually press the "Lit-on Erase" button at the top right then follow the on screen command, not as shown in image 10, by pressing the erase button you just keep getting errors.
Back to Firmware Tool 32, the dvd keys (top and bottom) should be the same, if they are just hit the save to file button. Back to MTK Flash 32 and hit the write button, that's it!
If all goes well this should take you no more than about 5 minutes rather than the cautious hour it took me.

Hi guys,

I bought the CK3 and Probe..then used JF..
and i faced problems while erasing..
i am using VIA SATA

i clicked the ERASE LITE ON...then yes and then yes ...

and switch on off my CK3..

but it came " failed "...

i clicked the DEVICE ID and then yes and then switched on/off my ck3..again it failed..

tried both the things several times..

then i tried ERASE LITE ON clicked yes..and before clicking the second yes...
i switched on/off my drive and the clicked yes...

this time i go a reply.."" unknown/unknown."..

and the drive froze and now every time i used to click DEVICE ID or LITE ON ERASE ...instead of "failed.."...i am getting the "unknown / unknown "

then i tried write...and JF froze

i had got my keys successfully and had created LITE_CFW.bin

then i used DOS method..

used L-O-ERAS.exe (my port)

then i successfully wrote my LITE_CFW.bin

Then i tried another LITE ON..i tried using DOS...but when i used "CK3 tools app" it shows my COM7...but in DOS...i only got 1,2,3,4 COM options..so it said "invalid command"...and i dint know what COM is exactly and how can i change it..
i had connected my CK3 with the USB...so i changed the USB ports ...but the COM port did not change in the "ck3 tools app"

so i again went to JF

the same thing happened ...and i again used DOS...to restore

my Questions are :

1. I get the Keys and all files easily...but i think i am going wrong in erasing...When exactlyshould i Switch ON OFF the CK3...after i press the second YES??..before it?? or after sometime after pressing YES ??

2. Why is this Erasing problem happening ??

3. What are these COM ports ..and how do i change mine..it says COM7...but i am not getting an option in DOS ...till 7 ...please explain??

Sorry for my stupids questions

and thanks for looking :)

PLEASE HELP!
I have a lite on drive i flashed it in jan with no problems and have been playing happily ever since! Over the past few weeks it has started to read my backups as dvds! Y? all of my other discs are fine! i have done some research and found some one who has had the same problem posted on another site! The reply that they got was that the drive is on its way out! Is that the case? none of my other games or dvds have any problems! its just the ones i have burnt in the last 3 weeks! I havent changed any of the ways i burn discs or changed the type/make of discs!
I cant work out what it could be other than maybe i need a new firmware? if that is the case then is there even one out? i cant find one!
PLEASE HELP!

hey xecuter you should update the tut to include that you should power cycle the CK3 after you outro it with jungle. Most of the bad flashes people have been getting can be solved by this. Mine was. If the tray ejects after the write then its a good write and they should outro it then power cycle the CK3.

You should be able to just write to the drive . Will erase automatically . Look for the post on how to flash here http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49096 will work perfectly for you if you follow the instructions carefully . I had a bricked lite-on due to using JF and went with iPrep and successfully unbricked it .

Guys

I have flashed my previous Elite (Hitachi79) which was pretty stright forward. I am about to flash my latest drive the Liteon using the probe

the tutorial [ http://team-xecuter.com/ck3/liteon_windows.htm ] suggests using iXtreme 1.5 & Jungle Flasher 0.26 BETA. With the recent delivery of IX1.6 is the process still the same for this version, do I need a different version of JungleFlasher to use with IX1.6?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Lite-on is now flashed.

process is slightly different to the one on this site.

I opened the drive using the jungleflasher process as teh xecuter one returned an error. Switch the drive off and manually eject.

Erase is done via the Lite-on Erase button and not the Erase. If you use the Erase button you may get this error

Getting Status from port 0x9000
Invalid Status 0x50

the erase is done after the firmware work on the firmware Tab

In the new version of JF, you dont have to point the tool at the bin files, it select the dummy file only

I kept all the files I dumped and the firmware ix16-liteon-repack.bin, in the same location on my machine

When you initiate the Lite-on erase follow the jungle flasher process as this is correct. switching the drive off as the dots are scrolling across the screen.

Thanks the tools allowing me to do the upgrade.

if you keep getting that on erase then just keep trying, sometimes it could take a while but eventually it will work, it's almost impossible to brick a liteon

So this is a total noob question but any help will be appreciated. How do I determine what SATA I have? And what exactly is the molex cable when it says "Connect a molex power source to the CK3"? swalker2

The molex is the power cable that connect to the likes of your hard drive, DVD /CD drive in your PC. Chuck Molex in google I am sure it will explain.

Ricey155
23rd June 09, 14:46
open your desktop and if a self build you should have spare molex power, somebody suggested not connecting to the same link as the computers HDD to avoid crashing

as for sata open it up plug your cable that came with the package CK3 and see if anything matches if not your done, did you get the hdd in the package ?? try that first

its good fun but very time consuming doing this at first persistence is the way forward

Got my C3k Pro with Probe kit today. I found it a little confusing 'cause the Jungle flash tut and the C3k tut differ a little. But after a little more reading, got it going and worked like a freakin' charm. Piece of cake in the end. One thing that did throw me, when I was powering up the C3k first up, instead of the blue light I was getting a red light, till I pressed the mode button which changed it to blue. Waste of 2 hours! Must of missed it somewhere ..Anyways.. Any tut for the HD adapter that comes with the kit ?

Also, i suddenly have no COM port, a common problem, when you open jungleflasher and get the 'no comports were ....blah blah' i was using COM4, so i typed that in manually, yet still no good! the green light on the probe still remains, iv tried everything, reinstalled the portio32 and usb drivers, restarted pc and so on.

teajunkie

yes when you dumped the drive it would have asked "do you want to auto load liteon ixtreme" you should choose yes!
If you dont have the ix firmware download it and put it in the firmware folder in jungle flasher.

Now you will have to click load target firmware and select the liteon ixtreme.bin
and click spoof source to target.

Now erase and flash your liteon.

hello - i have a newbie question.

i am trying to use ck3 pro with the probe on my liteon. liteon is connected directly to my motherboard. it's an old motherboard (circa '05 - first ones to support sata on the motherboard - not sure what brand - its a dell PC). my problem is the liteon drive does not seem to get reconized in ck3 pro software or JF (I get "No device found on this port" when I query ports). I do see other devices attached to the other SATA ports (like my hard disks & dvd burner) in both these tools but not the liteon drive. I also switched SATA ports on the motherboard - the other devices are stillrecognized but not the lite-on. i am starting to think maybe my motherboard won't recognize it AT ALL. Is this common? And is my solution then to get a VIA SATA controller card and use that. And if so then, should I/can I use a different brand's sata controller card - just asking because the instruction for the VIA card in the JF seems to have warnings about some potetial risks using the VIA card...but I am not sure if other SATA controller cards are known to work with the liteon drive(?).

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

So I've modded BenQ's in the past, now I have a lite-on I'm working on.

Anyway, I'm able to get my JungleFlasher to recognize my drive, however, I can't seem to get the COM ports to show up. The drop down box is blank. I've spent at least 2 hours reading around, trying various things, but no luck. I'm assuming this means that my SATA setup is correct, but JF isn't recognizing my usb connection (CK3 Pro)? I've looked through my device manager but am not seeing anything for the COM ports. I've installed PORTIO32 and CK3 Pro USB drivers.

I've messed around by changing back and forth from my mobo SATA's to my SYBA SY-VIA-150 PCI Sata.

Any recommendation's/tips for me?

Thanks.

Let me now if that guide helped you!

im stuck from this on down

- Turn ON Computer power and go intoo BIOS Screen or dual boot OS selection in order to pause bootup process
- Turn OFF CK3 pro power. Make sure the modeb light is blue
(If you have a CK3 probe it will lit blue as well)
- Press Eject button on CK3 pro.
- DVD Tray should will eject. Push in DVD tray more than half way in, with your hand.
- Turn OFF CK3 pro power!!!
-Let your PC boot into Windows XP

i need help bad!!!! i got my ck3 today and im stuck by the bio part and the red light is on my ck3 pro board. what do i change in the bio? cuz i dont see anything said AHCI and enable Legacy IDE mode. and if i got ck3 PRO i dont have to plug in and down the software for serial port right?

Hey guys, I tried to flash my first Xbox two days ago using the ck3 probe, everything appeared to work correctly, The problem I have is that it wont read any disks after the flashing, it just spins up quickly and ejects the drive when i try to play a game in the dashboard.

Everything appeared to go correctly, I read the key, made the dummy image and put the new firmware on but it wont read anything now. Anyone else have this problem?

Re-flash it but make sure you use the liteon erase function in jungle flasher!

Devilink
9th August 09, 15:07
I re-flashed it and to no success :(. same thing, the cd drive makes a weird grinding noise as it boots up and wont recognize the disk, just ejects them, any possible remedy's?

teajunkie

Drive sounds knackered check to make sure you havent caught anything inside the drive when you opened it up to grab the key.

And check the screws are tight.

Devilink
10th August 09, 07:25
Nothing caught inside the drive, I heard if the ribbon for the laser is plugged in during the flashing it can be damaged by static or somthing, any truth to this?

teajunkie
10th August 09, 10:54
No never heard that one..

Are you getting an error "open tray"
If so you might want to try the pot tweak method!

Devilink
10th August 09, 14:58
but it wont even read original disks anymore so it couldn't be to do with the laser could it?

teajunkie
10th August 09, 15:21
But are you getting an open tray error?

Devilink
10th August 09, 15:26
what happens is, it spins up briefly, and just ejects the drive regardless of what disk is in it.

Ah is the magnet in the top of the drive cover sat in place correctly sometimes they come away and stop the disc from sitting correctly.

Hello,
I was chatting with the JungleFlasher support staff earlier today and they requested that i post my problem here.

My set-up is:
XP SP3-Fresh Install
.net framework 3.5
ViA SATA 6421 Card(without the drivers installed)
Lite-on Drive
CK3 Pro w/ Probe(Correct Drivers)
PortIO Installed and Working
Jungle Flasher 1.65

Everything appears to be working fine:
JungleFlasher Recognizes the Ck3 correctly and the Lite-on Drive Correctly.

The Problem:
When i click "get key" and hold the probe in the 707 hole, JungleFlasher will turn my cursor into the stand "loading" icon and in the status window it will take about 5 minutes to get to 8 periods(.). After that, i will wait 5 more minutes and then i will have to force quit the app because it will stop responding.

I have tried all the boot-up processes i could find: stopping in bios and open the drive, pushing it in half-way, then turning on the CK3. letting windows boot and turning Ck3 back on.

Also i have tried the same process while JungleFlasher is opening.

Any ideas?????

Do you have any onboard sata?
If so use that.

Or install the via drivers and try again.

I have the Nvidia Nforce4 chipset that i tried using originally. I would get a bad serial data warning everytime i tried to read the key. However, i was able to get the key using Ck3 tool and not jungle flasher. So i opened up the dump files, used jungle flasher to repair them(entered the serial number info etc...) and got a firmware that i can use to flash the drive with. I tried to flash the drive with jungle flasher but it just hangs with the VIA card and gives me an error message when i try the onboard sata.

I have considered flashing with DOS, but i am worried that i do not have for sure the correct key!!

I have dumped the key using CK3 4 times and it returns the same key everytime. I read that it can still be unreliable, however.

SUggestions???

hi what drive was it ?? you might need to tweak your laser - most work fine some dont and need the pot tweak, now ive only read about it not had one myself

just bought a multimeter as ive got an old hitachi 47 thats doesnt like burned games so gonna spoof it as my lite on and pot tweak it see what happens

search for pot tweak see what pops up

saying that original normally work ok

Use the onboard sata and if it's a bad serial data error then try the following:

- power the drive off and on again just before you press dump files.
- disconnect any other hardware cd / dvd roms.
- Try a different usb cable and make sure you are selecting the correct port.

Ok, so this is my first time tinkering with my own drive, as I usually pay someone else to do it. I realized that I needed to update my firmware so I've followed Team Xecuter tuts and forums to the tee, but still no luck. Here's the details:

I have a Liteon DG-16D2S drive,
VIA 6421a PCI to serial ATA & IDE controller,
CK3 Lite (serial),
CK3 Probe,
PortIO32 drivers installed
Jungleflasher 0.1.62.

So when I have everything power cycled, I open JungleFlasher and I find my I/O and COM ports and it recognizes the drive. As soon as I touch the probe to the R707 point and press "Get Key, Create Dummy.bin, Open as Source", I get the error "No Drive Detected. DVDkey files extraction aborted!" Then it won't recognize the drive unless I reboot EVERYTHING and begin the process again, to no avail.

:(CAN ANYBODY HELP??:(

Xecuter CK3 Lite + CK3 Probe hi all i am gething crazy i am trying to flash my liteon using jungle flasher i get the key, inquiry and identify but the dummy i get this mesage .....dummy ,bin is mising some drive specific information..if possible you should re-extract your drive info again with the latest tools... Hi!
First off all this maybe a bit offtopic but I hope nobody minds.
Last month I bought CK3 Lite + No Solder Add-on and a PCI SATA VIA VT6421.
I got stuck with my Liteon because I realized, that CK3 Lite requires a serial port which I don`t have integrated on my motherboard. So I bought an additional (Digitus DS-33000) PCI Serial Port, installed the drivers but every single time I want to dump the key either with JungleFlasher or CK3 Tool, system frezzes and I need to reboot. I`ve done EXACTLY as instructions/tutorial for flashing with JF/CK3 Tool say at least 10 times but no luck. What should I do? Should I buy an additional Serial-to-USB adapter to solve this problem? Thank you for your support, Alexander.

If I lived in UK then yeah, I`d certainly do that. The problem is that I`m from South-Eastern Europe, which means (only if the CK3.co.uk agrees of course):
I have to send it to their address (costs at least 6 GBP), pay another 10 GBP for a replacement for CK3 Pro (and extra 7 GBP `cause Pro is a bit more expensive) plus shipping back to me - 6 GBP. Total expenses would be approx. 30 pounds. That`s the same if I bought a new Pro (shipping included).
I guess I`ll just have to buy another one, but still I think that Serial-to-USB cable might be successful. Has anybody had that kind of problem?

I just bought the Probe with v3 kit. I am having problems with mine. All the drivers are installed, but when i plug in the USB from the connectivity kit the blue and the green lights on the probe come on. The green light is not suppose to come on until you have the probe in place. I can not figure out why. I don't know if you would have the same problem, that is just what is happening to me. My PC does not have a serial port either, that's why i bought the pro.

If you don't have a serial port you can grab a pci serial card or a usb to serial adapter. (note: 83850c does not need a serial port 74850c does)

As for the sata port the only way to tell is to check it by connecting it up.
If jungleflasher sees your drive then it's compatible!

you could try grabbing the port by scanning with xtractor reader.

To find your drive port connect your drive power it on and open xtractor reader.
Click scan ports for xbox drives and wait for it to confirm your drive connection port.

Now open jungle and select this port in the port selection box.

Hi I'm new around here, I have looked through the forum but didn't find the solution to my problem.
It's like the problem Devilink had.

I flashed my Lite On xbox, i bought CK3 pro + probe and everything passed like in the manual. Everything was ok and verified.
But now, i don't get OPEN tray error but xbox won't read anything, not even an original game.

I have tried to flash it again an it passed as a charm but again it won't read nothing.

What can I do. Every software is reading my Lite on, DVDkey32, iprep, Jungle flasher, but when I connect it to my Xbox it wont read anything.

Nothing is stucked inside, drive can be opened with the xbox key or through xbox software "open tray" command.

Everything looks fine but it just won't read.

Can someone help please.
TNX in advance!!:(

OK, I have solved my problem TNX to GOLDENSAVAGE.

Everything it's OK, and everything works, originals and non ones
If you have a problem like mine was just do this, i'll qoute Goldensavage

"Load up Jungleflasher.
Connect everything up and turn on your drive.
Goto the port that originally has your drive on (Even if is doesn't Show Up)
Goto to MTKFlash Tab in JF and press Intro/Device Id.
Switch drive off and on within one second straight away.
The drive should come up with Status 0x73, ready to flash
Proceed with writing of new firmware/original Firmware. Which ever you want to do.
Ensure key is correct before writing firmware.
Press Outro"

To S786786

If you have the 74xx revision you will need the probe

If you have the 83xx revision you do not need the probe.

You can use the 1.51 or the 1.6 Repack ixtreme. New games work under either firmwares. There is a 1.6 that has some problems with lite-on's but the repack should be fine

s786786
11th October 09, 11:24
Thanks Goldensavage, you've been repped. So all the newest games will work on 1.51 right?

And the difference between the CK3 Pro and Lite is the Pro supports USB? I have a serial port but no cable.

Goldensavage
11th October 09, 11:32
Yes you have it right, There are only subtle differences between 1.51 and 1.6 but 1.51 will play all stealthed/wave 3 games.

Again you are correct, the pro has USB, (You will get a cable with the lite) but USB is support by most machines as most if not all machines have a usb port. So go for Pro now and avoid buying a new one later

Hello all. I am new here and I'm having problems with flashing the Lite-On DG-16D2S.

I am using the MaximusGames Connectivity Kit btw.

Moving on though,

So I have everything connected and stuff, I can even read the key using the Maximus Extractor Tool... But, the Maximus Extracter Tool can only read and get the key, not altering it and flash the new firmware.

When I open up JungleFlasher, on the DVDKey32, it doesn't detected my LiteOn anywhere... PortIOS is installed too.

So any ideas what I may be missing here? I've been running around in circles for 2 weeks...

Yes you should be fine with just the ck3 pro.

But there is a new 9c 83850 revision that is currently unhackable.

But you may aswell get the kit. It will not harm it if you try to get the key. And if you do it's done.

If you don't, wait for a guide to come.

Page 99 onwards for 83850c. You should be fine, judging by the manu date.

It has point and click tutorial for noobs.

Enjoy

The tutorial for the 74 is not the same as 83. Sorry, it is a different procedure

Your drive is frozen the only way I was able to fix it was through DOS look in the Liteon Frozen thread.

what i found was that the freezing was down to my via card not the drive cos if i tried to use the sata port on the back of the card it would freeze but if i use the one on the side which is connected to my other card that got the external power supply on it then it works fine so check if your card got too sata ports on it and try the other one
