Yes. Unless you like the idea of doing the suggested "no-solder" LAN/HDD wire connection procedure :P

Personnally I think I'm going to try it just for kicks!!!

I do agree about buying a "solderless" adapter and then having to solder the LAN/HDD wires - but hey - it's all about having fun right

In the tutorial it shows that the hole with the square around it (where you place the x3pter) there is still solder. You can't put the x3pter down there if there is solder in that square hole, correct?

Well that picture came from the solder method tutorial on Team Xecuter. I'd look at my Xbox to see if it has that same square solder but it's all screwed in right now.

2 possibilities:

A)There is no pin where that solder is

B)It's not there.

I believe it was option A but it's been awhile.

2. Do you need to do anything to your new HD before installing it? Ie: fdisk, format etc? Can I just grab an old HD I have laying around and pop it in regardless of what's on it or how it's partitioned and then perform those tasks once the bios has been flashed? Currently I have a old 120GB HD I was using for a unix box - do I need to fdisk and format before putting it in the XBOX?

1) Yes I do mean use the latest version and I haven't gotten around to changing that yet, been rather busy in household.

2) I would suggest formatting it because I am not sure if the Xbox will read it as is.

hey guys i believe that i have a 1.5,so when i buy a used xbox to mod what are my chances of getting the 1.5 xbox. Also the 1.6 doesnt have temp sensors another reason why i really want the 1.5.

If you buy an Xbox that is somewhat old you may have a good chance of it being a 1.5 but if it's from many years ago then it'll most likely be either 1.2-1.4 range... at least that's what I think.

EDIT ::

While I have this post... can a moderator or someone please change the error I have in my first post? It says 1.5-1.6 when it should have said 1.1-1.5 or something rather. This has been brought to my attention many times and could be causing confusion for other members, since I can't edit my post I have to reach out to you guys somehow.

thanx for the help but i just modded my 1.5 and will buy another for xbl my gamertag if anyone cares is HellKnight 4206 any way i was wondering if u could make a more detailed tutorial with the lan hdd leds cuz i got kinda lost reading it w/o the pics

Apparently so. I tried like 10 CD-Rs and ended up wasting my money before I realized that the problem wasn't my burner..it was the discs. I didn't save myself a big pain in the ass.
