Liteon 74850c- key extraction

Hi,

I've installed all the drivers required.
Here's a big big NOOB question- having some trouble extracting the drive key- with the probe. At the moment am using the usb cable supplied- my question is do i need to have a sata cable connected to my mobo too?

In JF can see my drive on COM4 port through the usb connection. but it's not appearing in the I/O ports- I've got 4 to chose from.

I'm getting No drive detected error.

well im not an expert but i would say yes the i/o ports are the sata ports if no drive is connected via sata would get no drive detected

connect the drive with the sata aswell and select the port the drive is connected to

also check that ur sata chipset is compatable the only one i know works is the via 6421a chipset others do work tho

yea a lot of on board sata chipsets cause problems best of picking up a via6421a can get them for next to nothing i have one and have never had a problem ...
also i looked at ur pic and am pretty sure that port on ur sata is the harddrive correct me if i am wrong

Can you explain why you'd ask that and at the same time you thoroughly read the tutorial ?

Ok, sorry basically I'd gone through the blaster CK3 setup a few times, I'd just kindof forgot it's almost assumed(for the right reason) that you've connected it to your pc through sata.
Either way it's my bad, i shouldav really known.

Hmmm, an interesting one- my bios see's the drive, but not having much luck in windows... as andtpandyc101 said it's probably easier just going with a via card.
