VIA PCMCIA Driver (Laptops & PC's) - Problem Solved !
hi,
all those people having problems with via chipset driver problems (pc/lappy freezing), download this folder. This is all you need to fix problems. works 100% of the time for me (took ages to get it right)
If you have already installed the drivers, you will have to uninstall them all (including system32 folder, recycle bin etc)
download this:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WYRRNIZW
I have deleted the original viamraid.sys files and replaced them with uniata.sys file (renaming it viamraid.sys)
unrar it, place on desktop.
Install viachipset pcmcia card, it will say "found new hardware", manually install drivers.
point the installation to desktop and open folder-> driverdisk->raid->winxp->viamraid.sys
then it will ask again, now point it to Viaraid->driver->winxp->viamraid.sys
installation done. There should be no more problems with freezing or installing/uninstalling for different drives.
(you will get uniata controller wanting to install everytime you boot up, just cancel it, it will not affect flashing with JF)
its a pain but worth the hassle.

Re: Viachipset PCMCIA card driver problems
Also check out the laptop guide that was started by cabiagio ages ago this also has a detailed explanation of other methods. Also it mentions how to install uniata in more than one way. I couldn't find any uniata files in that file either, have you already changed the file names?

Re: VIA PCMCIA Driver (Laptops & PC's) - Problem Solved !
hoping for a little clarification, if possible?
the first install from driverdisk>raid>winxp offers a single choice of driver for
- VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
but the second install from viaraid>driver>winxp offers a choice of three:
- VIA SATA RAID Controller
- VIA VT6410 RAID Controller
- VIA VT6421 RAID Controller
obviously, I chose the VT6421, to match the first install, but I'm wondering if that was correct because my device list now shows two VIA RAID Controllers, and the second one has a yellow exclamation mark next to it all the time?!
otherwise, thanks for your efforts:)
I'm using a Serial ATA PCMCIA with 2 SATA ports VIA VT6421A in an XP laptop as recommended here.

Re: VIA PCMCIA Driver (Laptops) - Problem Solved !
Hey I have VIA 6421A PCMCIA card and I installed your drivers but Jungle flasher won't detect my dvd drives (Tried BenQ and Hitachi). It shows as Via 6421 in jungle flsher but when I connect a DVD drive it won't do anything. I have a Compaq Presario V2410US. Been here all week trying to resolve the problem.

32 or 64 bit? there is a tut for 64 bit. if you have followed the guide in the link you posted.
are these drives stock? are you using a lite or a pro? do a device intro once connected to see flash chip properties, then drive should show up. a little more info would be nice.

Re: VIA PCMCIA Driver (Laptops) - Problem Solved !
I would like this to work. I bought this pcmcia card http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/c...60-p-3026.html I guess that it is 6421.
For the install I browsed to the folder driverdisk->raid->winxp. I got the message that it did not find a driver.

Re: VIA PCMCIA Driver (Laptops) - Problem Solved !
After a reboot the first driver was installed. I still cannot install the second driver. Should the second be named viamraid.sys? It is asking for uniata driver for the SCSI part of the pcmcia card.

I ignored SCSI one but I installed the second driver to the via controller. I verified my key but I cannot get the drive into vendor mode through the vendor intro routine of MTKflash.
