JTAG Compatible Dash / Kernel Versions & How To Check *UPDATED 30 DEC 2010*

Kernel versions that can be exploited with the JTAG hack

    Xenon (v1) 1888, 1902, 1903, 1920,1921 Xenon-Kernel
    Zephyr (v2) 4558 Zephyr-Kernel
    Falcon (v3) 5761, 5766, 5770 Falcon-Kernel
    Opus (v3.1) (Same as Falcon)
    Jasper (v4) 6712 Jasper-Kernel (16M)
    Jasper (v4) 6723 Large Block Jasper-Kernel (256M)
    Jasper (v4) 6723 Large Block Jasper-Kernel (512M)
Jasper (v4) 7363 Large Block Jasper-Kernel (512M) (These MAY work but you need to dump and check the CB version to be sure) (After June 17th 2009 Manufacture date probably will NOT work - but check anyway)
Jasper (v4) 7371 Large Block Jasper-Kernel (512M) (These MAY work but you need to dump and check the CB version to be sure) (After June 17th 2009 Manufacture date probably will NOT work - but check anyway)

These (2BL)CB versions are patched so the JTAG Hack is no longer working: (4BL)CD = 8453 for all of them

    Xenon: 1922, 1923, 1940, 7373
    Zephyr: 4571, 4572, 4578, 4579, 4580
    Falcon/Opus: 5771
    Jasper: 6750

The first thing you need to check, is your xbox kernel. At the time of writing, the most recent kernel is : 2.0.12625.0 (Released 19th January 2011)

Turn on your xbox and go to console settings.
Go to system info, the kernel version is on top right.

As of 5/12/09 (December 5th 2009) If you have kernel 2.0.8495.0 or HIGHER, YOU CANNOT INSTALL Xell / Freeboot / XBReboot and therefore CANNOT JTAG your Xbox. Ignoring this and asking anyway will NEVER change that fact.

Having the NXE Dashboard is not the indicator and just because your dash is in the 7XXX series does not mean you can not exploit it. The only fact is that any the 8XXX latest versions CANNOT be done. There is a slim chance the 7363 or 7371 can still be exploited. There is no "Downgrading".

For easy motherboard identification see attached image of external PSU socket and also math with HDMI info below:

    Xenon (Non-HDMI)
    Zephyr: (HDMI)
    Opus: (Non-HDMI)
    Falcon: (HDMI)
    Jasper: (HDMI)

Here is an easy to follow chart on what can and can't be JTAG'd

NOTE: You can dump the NAND of any 360 regardless of what dashboard version it has. Also the JTAG connections are not needed to dump the NAND either.

Yes, it's very possible that it's able to be JTAG'd but the only for sure way is to read the NAND and verify with the image of the exploitable CB's.

But, I would say you have a very good chance since it's quite an early manufactured console and I've seen 7371 consoles that were manufactured on June 18th be exploitable, so I'd say you're pretty probably of having one.

Just read the NAND and compare it

Somehow, I think the manufacture date you gave is incorrect, they didn't make jaspers back then.
IIRC, the cut off date for exploitable CB is june 2009, so if you have a dash equal to or lower than 7371 and with a manufacture date before june 2009, then you are good to go.
I would add however that this information is more than likely already covered in the forums, all you need to do is search before posting! (it's in the rules!)

Re: JTAG Compatible Dash / Kernel Versions & How To Check *UPDATED 10 MAY 2010*

    only Falcon (v3) 5761, 5766, 5770 Falcon-Kernel are Jtaggable???

that means, even if I have Falcon with 2.0.7357.0 , it' still not Jaggable?

That is your dash board version you will not know the CB until you check it. But there is a good chance that kernel 7357 can be jtaged, unless it was refurbished by Microsoft.

Re: JTAG Compatible Dash / Kernel Versions & How To Check *UPDATED 10 MAY 2010*

yeah, kinda new to the xbox scene and this confuses me
"The first thing you need to check, is your xbox kernel. At the time of writing, the most recent kernel is : 2.0.9199.0 (Released 6th April 2010)"
2.0.9199.0 is the newest Dashboard and yet is called kernel? and it said
    only "Falcon (v3) 5761, 5766, 5770 Falcon-Kernel are Jtaggable"...just want to make things clear before I get a Nand-X

I guess, mine should be okay gfor Jtag ))
