Alternate Phat RGH Points - How To Fix When You F@*k up

Alright, before I saw dannyhoward21's post I tried moving my POST_OUT1 wire as I thought I was having connectivity issues. When I scraped away at the track I also scraped the open area of the pcb. I think when I soldered the wire to the track I may have also soldered the wire to open area of the pcb, bridging together the two. I assume this was not a good thing because I saw a whisp of smoke off the coolrunner and I no longer get a green light at all. Could I have caused damage to anything else? I don't want to replace the coolrunner if I could have damage other areas of the system.

Also, if I do replace the coolrunner, exactly what am I soldering the wire to?

If I ever mess up a RGH install and require alternate points, i'm sending mine to a pro. This method blew my mind and i rather pay someone, here from the TX forums, to do it especially if they have years of electronics soldering experience. Good solution, but it wont be easy for many.

ok, following this alt points guide, I got a buddy's BB Jasper fixed after he burnt his traces. Soldered new wire between the trace and HANA resistor and used alt. point on bottom of board for the glitch, boots in 5 secs.

Although the entire document was not written by UberGeek, I still gave thanks

This was was initially a thread to help me out fixing a client's Jasper with several burned pads.

I had a E74 Falcon gathering dust in my closet so i decided to use it to make this little guide on how to fix what i think it will be the most problematic points on the PHAT motherboards.

If you remember the Lite-on MRA you know that as soon as the reset glitch gets more popular (probably when the next hacked dash gets released), a whole lot of people who never used a soldering iron before will try themselves and they WILL FAIL MISERABLY!

So i just purposely Fuc#$@ the problematic points so i could fix them and create this guide.

I will be doing a slim console soon

So i hope you guys appreciate as this took me a few hours to create


FIRST THINGS FIRST:

- Here are some tools that i used and greatly helped me with these fixes:

- Multimeter (to check the traces)

- A fiberglass pen to scrap the traces (you can use an Exacto knife too, but i prefer the pen)

EDIT 2: i used the alternative points and dont work. The green ligth of the CR doesnt blink and i got black screen.

This has to be without doubt the most essential thread i've ever read concerning RGH. Saved my bacon a few times. In fact i never use the STBY_CLK point any more i always use the Alt point on the underside on both Phat and Slims. Big up to all the guys who probably spent long hours finding these points

good to know that,cuz the most difficult point on slims is that point which gives me headaches and qsb just makes it harder to solder to (for that point only)other than that one its a piece of cake

Can anyone tell me the exact value of the resistor from within the picture, please?

I've got one mobo from unsuccesfull installation of RGH and besides the damaged point for PLL_BYPASS it has also damaged the alternative one (the resistor is out).

I'm sorry in advance if it was answered before but I haven't found it.
