If like me, you've scratched the ribbon whilst opening the xbox, I've found a drop of silver conducting paint/glue on the scratch works a treat.

I've done three so far (yes I'm that clumsy).

Apologies if this has been mentioned before.

Re: How To Replace A Slim Power & Eject Switch Ribbon Flex Cable

I used a hairdryer to remove mine and it worked just fine. Was super easy to put the new one on by using a q-tip to smooth it out. Worked perfectly. I accidentally scratched mine when I opened my XBOX for the first time ever since there either wasn't any warning or I overlooked the warning that the eject cable is right near some of the clips you have to pry open.

Now that I've opened it many times it's become second nature and it only takes me a minute or so to open it now. Especially with the X8 Unlock Tool Kit it's amazingly quick and proficient.

My question though is... I just bought a new XBOX Slim clear case to replace my plain black case and I am wondering if the eject cable retains it's adhesive once you heat it up and remove it?

In other words will I be able to remove it from my current case and just simply stick it on the new one or will I need to get some sort of adhesive to reinforce it's adhesiveness?

Any experience on the matter would be great. Thanks!

*EDIT* - It seems that the case that I'm buying comes with an eject cable already applied to the faceplate which is really cool. Didn't know that at first until I looked at the install instructions which show the pieces that are included. XCM Crystal Slim Case if anyone is curious which one I got. But someone could answer my question anyway just for reference.

Answer to your question is yes it can be used again and retains it's adhesive not as good as day one but good enough to stick if heated at a nice heat not too hot ..

Re: How To Replace A Slim Power & Eject Switch Ribbon Flex Cable

I damaged my ribbon cable opening my trinity a while back and the eject button stopped working. Not really a problem until I purchased GTA 5 and couldnt eject the disc. I got a new ribbon cable and followed your guide.

Would just like to say thanks for this.
