I've followed the guide at http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66257 several times, and nothing I've done is working.

Using latest JF (293) v1.90
win xp sp3

xbox as power source
directly connected to sata ports on my pcs mother board

What is the data cable connected to?
Need onboard via chipset or via 6421 pci controller board
Need drivers disabled.
If you are using on MB sata cant have windows operating system hard drive connected to the same onboard sata controller because your computer will not boot with via chipset drivers disabled (you could avoid this problem by using a DOS partition and use DOS based tools to flash instead with drivers enabled).

If this is not the problem it is a power cycle problem. Get a CK3i

(assuming you mean the sata cable) data cable is connected to a sata port on my pc's MB

And the hard drive sata makes sense, if i were to run off of a linux distro, would that work?

I am refering to the sata chipset on your motherboad. It needs to be a VIA chipset not a ATI Radeon XPress 200 Chipset (as it says on your setup).

Your sata port wont flash this drive.

You will need a via 6421 pci controller board -OR-

I did read the tutorial, v1.4.4.pdf and it never said anything about needing it to be via sata ports

i have a phat liteon, yes i did connected using CK3i but this is all you need, not VIA chip set and not USBpro.
just get a CK3i and use your MB sata connection and you will be ok...
BTW if you are using your xbox as a power source, this event will be logged on your xbox and once you will connect to live you have a big chance of being BANNED (take this into consideration).
if you dont care about the live then i recommend doing RGH , or maybe using some ODD like ****.
(save the trouble and you can also use HDD and you wont have to burn your backups!)

my JF show the same as his so i guess that they are the same.
Also i think that JF tut never said that you must use VIA chip set in order to be able to flash your drive.

i see alot on this forum that the responses are:
"buy USBpro" or "buy CK3i" or "buy !#@#"
sure the will make your life easier and they are all "plug&play" tools, but if there are options that might work without those tools I think that he needs to know about them and try them b4 jumping into the marketplace...

It doesn't matter if your chipset sees it. It doesn't mean it will read it. Loads of chipsets can see drives and not read them let alone write them.

how are you probing ??? are you getting to that point

doing the correct method
CK3 power on
on JF on DVDKey 32 tab
press Phatkey, press Yes
probe switch off
probe MPX01
probe switch on
extract complete pops up
remove probe
probe switch off (or ck3 power off)
power back on
press ok
all done

a lot of people have issues when using xbox as power

I never said that what uber said was wrong, and of-course i know that CK3i does not register the drive!
sure he can get a Via and still power his xbox using the console( he is flagged anyway...) maybe that really is the cheapest solution.............

I bet you have a VIA VT8237 chipset on your motherboard or something that is equivelent to via 6421 pci board.

That information is wrong in the sense that your chipset is not the same as their's otherwise, their drive would have had their key read by now, regardelss of power optiion.

It is clear his chipset is not compatible.

it is a list of known compatible SATA chipsets - if yours is not there, then buy a compatible card or better still an X360USB

Lets clear this up.

Just because the drive shows up in JF, does not mean it is the same chipset as anyone elses.

I can get a drive to show up in 2 of my 3 desktop and with a sata expansion card in my laptop. 2 are the same type and the others are different.

I cannot flash my drives on all of them. That is the point i am trying to make.
