Re: Liteon iHas B drives are now discontinued

For all UK people, don't get ripped off by unscrupulous eBay w*nkers trying to sell the 124 for 35+. Just buy the iHAS122-18 from one of the following links:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/LiteOn-IHAS1.../dp/B0048027MW

    http://www.ebuyer.com/251743-liteon-...oem-ihas122-18

    http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/193871...M/Product.html

There are also other UK retailers stocking this drive.

This information has been provided before by sarah1331, but I get the feeling that it is not being grasped by some people. There's probably some guys on here who are trying to promote their own 124b eBay auctions.

    Cheers.

    P.S. Thanks Sarah.

I don't think 35 is that bad, when you think about it.

The average xbox user wouldn't have the skill/knowledge to cross flash dvd drive, so paying someone 20 to flash it for you is about standard.

How much does it cost to get your xbox drive flashed?

That sucks, hope they have a good return policy, also if you order through Newegg, Fleabay, tigerdirect, or other make sure you check the part number to verify its the correct one.

I'm not sure you understand. These/some eBay sellers are not providing a crossflashing service. They are just selling the standard 124b drive with its original FW for stupidly high prices because they know it's been discontinued.

Also, if a user can not manage to crossflash a drive (click some buttons on a piece of software), how will they manage to check (ABGX) and burn their backups properly?

    Rant over.

Hmm that's not good news. Are you sure about this though? iHas122-18Cs exist
and they are definitely not compatible with BurnerMax?

That's still 10+ more than the 'guaranteed' iHas122-18...

I have took a chance on newegg, and bought the Ihas 224...guess what it was a B drive!

This was 2 weeks ago,and it was not a refurbished either. It did come with the latest FW,i had to end up flashing it twice because of that.

Also i only paid 21.00 for the drive...free shipping

Re: Liteon iHas B drives are now discontinued

Thanks for the heads up but i dont buy many games these days and my ihas124b rarley gets used and if it does its only for games, as and when i buy them.
I dont understand all the drama realy, the xbox 720 is out next year surley your drives will last till then for backing up games.
If people buy that many games have to back them there laser burns out, surley if they buy that many $75.00 is nothing to them lol

Basically PI errors can be as high as 200, and still have a readable disc, but to achieve a good XGD3 burn you need to be around 100, whereas PIF errors over 8 are not good at all. In actuality, you look at the average, but you still don't want any spikes in PI that run high, or in PIF that are above say 8 or 9. A good PIF is 4 or below

there are still plenty of crossflashable drives around for pretty cheap, i got a Plextor
PX-L890SA from ebay for 20, which, according to the crossflash list on c4evaspeaks, should be the B version.

Re: Liteon iHas B drives are now discontinued

Newegg still has a bunch of IHas 424 B 's. Just got mine on 10-18 for 30 bucks, shipped. A previous buyer (on newegg comments) said that he was told by customer service, that they have 600 in stock.... Thought i'd pass the information along, so you don't have to pay a ton extra from other places. Crossflashed to 624, then to burnmax. Runs like a champ.
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=ihas%20424

P.S. If you run into issues with not being able to write to the IHas drive (Like I did, I have raid on my sata ports) you need them to be set to IDE. So I installed a demo of windows 8 to a usb drive. Set my bios sata to IDE and booted from usb drive. Flashed the IHas. Then reset all my bios settings.
Hope that helps anyone that might run into trouble with writing the firmware to the IHas.

Re: Liteon iHas 124-B drives are now discontinued

anyone ordering a 424 from newegg should also note that it comes shipped with a firmware higher then what is packaged with burner max so you need to reflash/crossflash before you can run step 1 in the instructions.

aka, dump eeprom, flash drive, run update exe (might not be needed), flash drive (might not be needed).

just got a 424 yesterday from newegg (although canada)
