Thread: Coolrunner LED Mod

Re: Coolrunner LED Mod
Thanks to everyone for the ideas and the hard work on pin 4 connection, I finally got my front mod done.
I have trinity 1409 module, and I ran the wire from coolrunner with diode to pin4 on the bottom of the board, and from the ROL pin 4 to the nearest led.
Looks great! The Following User Says Thank You to GadgetCat For This Useful Post:

Re: Coolrunner LED Mod
no, no unpopulated points on the top or bottom of the board. Simply used as an anchor point.
I can put up a pic if wanted.

Re: Coolrunner LED Mod
I just did one of these on my trinity! a yellow led powered through pin 4 - credit to the OP

I took the live from after the resistor on CR but before the LED that's on there. connected that to pin 4 on bottom of the mobo. Then the pin on picture shows that live feed connecting to a SMD led the other side is just soldered to the ground of the ROL board (just scraped a little green covering off it and checked with multimeter)
I used an additional LED as i didnt have any diodes to prevent voltage going back to CR when player ROL is lit, (also enabled me to use a diff colour to signify the debug light)Last edited by BraveH43; 27th April 12 at 13:50.

Re: Coolrunner LED Mod
You can also use a transistor and use it to connect the ground point of the Red Error LED to ground.
Have done this on a couple of consoles.
Simply connect the line from the coolrunner to the middle leg of the transistor. Another to case ground (just solder it direct holds the transistor in place) Then the last leg to the ground point.

Re: Coolrunner LED Mod
yeah, that would probably be the "right" way if you use the attatched leds. i thought of that but it easyier to just add a led in most cases and it can be a different color, you could put the transistor on the cool runner too to keep the rol uncluttered. if you have some free time you should put that togeather and throw a pic up, it may catch on
i think it would mainly apply to the phat too if i remember right, the slim is ok
im intersted to see if the new version of the coolrunner has something built in for the led being relocated, would be nice.Last edited by T3chWarrior; 7th May 12 at 19:35.

Re: Coolrunner LED Mod
thought i would give the kool little mod a go. I have tried all the soldering posisitons suggested in the OP but no matter what i do, the LEDS are SO dim. even tried taking off the LED off the CR but made no difference. any ideas?
