Re: Slim Internal Memory Mod
Hey here is a link to someone who also did this mod but doesnt have a full account yet and wanted me to post this for him, he did a decent job and has a full tutorial, he also shows how to use a relay to switch it on and off with a dual nand, easyier than dealing with transistors lol

he goes by antman1, Thanks

Re: Slim Internal Memory Mod
You mod is actually my v2 of dual HDD setups. The first one I made an adapter that would allow me to switch between the internal and a 2TB external HDD connected by a custom e-sata port which registers as an internal as well.

The problem with this was I could only have one or the other HDD. The benefits to v1 over v2 is HDD size (until they make a 2TB 2.5" HDD), and sata/e-sata is faster than USB 2.0 (the new mod is cannot provide USB 3.0 speed). The main draw of this (besides form factor) is that you can transfer info between dual internal HDD's without extra hardware (USB device or PC).
For v2 I used a WD "My Passport" because it has USB 2.0/3.0 built directly onto the HDD.

I also connected it to a 3-position on/on/on dpdt for use with a dual NAND. I used power from the internal HDD giving me the option of which one or both HDD get power.

In order to get it to fit I modified the HDD "tray". I used a rubber band and rubber feet from the HDD tray to hold everything in place

It fit together pretty well and can confirm a 1TB HDD works.

Note: The 500GB USB 2.0 HDD showing the USB port is not the 1TB USB 3.0 HDD that is installed verifying up to 1TB (930GB free) HDDs work.
I've been waiting days to post this here LOL!!!Last edited by hundshamer; 28th April 12 at 05:59.

Re: Slim Internal Memory Mod
Actually, if you go to my flickr stream page 5 here, you will see that I uploaded the pics for v1 in Nov. 30, 2011. That was long before your dual HDD post. It is also of different design. You used the power to switch between HDDs. I actually switched the data input to the 360.

Re: Slim Internal Memory Mod
Was that for the SD or the 500gb?
Did you try using the Show Hidden Files option in windows? If its still FAT32, my guess is its using DataXXX files which should mean that its the same as using any usb stick plugged into the front ports(M$ feature) so it shouldn't be a bannable offence.
Thats a theory though, it may not use Data001, Data002 etc files.
Can you please try show hidden files and let us know.

Re: Slim Internal Memory Mod
For this you can refer to my way. there is more soldering but it is possible. If I had a Phat I would ,make a tut on it.
The pic you need for reference is on page 2 below. the link in my Signature is the rest of the guide

Re: Slim Internal Memory Mod
Correct. You could also make one of these to connect a e-sata external HDD as an internal:

The main downfall to either of the phat hacks is you can only register 1 HDD at a time.
