    New Release and XML Tags

    Since the new release is out I was hoping, since I couldn't find it anywhere, that we could list out all the different tags we can use in the XML and what they do, etc, etc.

    In the XML that comes with the RAR it says we can use these tags:

    NOSNOW
    ----To turn the snow off - Easy enough...

    FTP INHIBIT="0" USER="xbox" PASS="xbox"

    ----On this is "0" where we put the IP Address for the XBox we are using?

    HTTP INHIBIT="0" USER="xbox" PASS="xbox"

    ----What is this for?

    SEARCH SECTION="APPLICATIONS" PATH1="E:APPS" ... PATH4="F:UTILS"
    SEARCH SECTION="GAMES" PATH1="E:GAMES" ... PATH4="F:XDEMOS"

    ----Set up where to look for your stuff...

    ITEM TEXT="XShell" ACTION="Launch_Custom" PARAM="C:xshell.xbe"

    ----Add Custom Items!

    So, can we add custom menus with custom items below them like in evox? I like the game list, but what about my Emulators? How do I add this to the Storage Menu alongside Games and Apps?

    Again, this is a beautiful release. I am 2 tags away from taking evox off my system!

    Wil

    Currently you cannot add anymore "SEARCH SECTION" tags to it as it will not recognize them. Also there are a few bugs with it right now.

    1. With a X2 BIOS, when you select eject CD tray it reboots the xbox.
    2. Clicking on "MS DASHBOARD" just reboots the xbox bringing you back into EVOX.
    3. Can't create custom menus. (SEARCH SECTION tags)

    They are working on it right now and will be releasing a bugfix sometime today.

    That actually works for me...

    Thanks for the heads up... what about those sound effects in the storage section... LOUD and annoying... anyway to get rid of them? Not anything against it, I'm ust trying to help, if you need input, that's mine, use the main menu sounds or at least their db level... the other sounds are too loud and get a little old it you are in the games section and are scrolling down though 30+ games you get tired of it...

    Anyway, it looks amazing, it really is cool and an exciting present to play with!

    Thanks!

    BTW: a couple more cents from me: can we get it to alphabetize the games/programs? it is really hard to go through them when you have a lot of games. Just for future note, if we get custom menus that we can add items to them I can just alphabetize my collection like I do now...

    OK, I got the bug fix version and it cleared a lot up. THANKS GUYS!

    When you get it (called neXgen_Dashboard_0.91c.rar in case you are getting a little confused when you look for it) open up the xml and hhere is what you get:

    <!-- Tags to disable stuff: -->
    <nosnow/>
    <nomusic/>
    <nosound/>

    <!-- Set inhibit to 1 to turn off the corrisponding server -->
    <ftp inhibit="0" user="nexgen" pass="nexgen"/>
    <http inhibit="0"/>

    <!-- Changing existing section paths -->
    <section name="Applications">
    <search path1="E:Apps" path2="F:Apps" path3="E:Applications" path4="F:Applications"/>
    </section>
    <section name="Games">
    <search path1="E:Games" path2="F:Games"/>
    <item text="Oddworld: Munch's Oddessy" icon="F:MunchTitleImage.xbx" xbe="F:MunchDefault.xbe"/>
    </section>

    <!-- Adding new sections & items -->
    <section name="Emulators">
    <search path1="E:Emulators" path2="F:Emulators"/>
    <item text="FBAX" icon="F:FBAXTitleImage.xbx" xbe="F:FBAXDefault.xbe"/>
    </section>

    <!-- Adding a main menu entry -->
    <item text="XBOX LIVE" action="Launch_Custom" param="c:xodashXOnlineDash.xbe"/>
    </menu>

    Question: can you nest menu's like in EvoX?

    For example, have a Games menu and have three or four submenu's for different kinds of games, which then autoload from their own sub directories?

    Thx!

    I haven't been able to make a nested file system...

    I was also wondering what file types and resolution you could use for the images. What I'd like is maybe a defailt xbox logo if it doesn't find a picture rather than the black circle.

    Also, I know the source is out there with media X menu having it and all; so, can we have it pull the music from our copied music foilder at random? I believe verison 0.9d of mxm was source code only, I have a copy of it... That would be sweetness - maybe in the final release??

    Eject still doesn't work for me (Xecuter2 Bios - ****** chip) it pops out one inch then immediately in then error 13. Reboot gives me the error too and I do have the updated .91c.rar version that was uploaded to xbins on the 25th.

    That said, what do I do to make this my primary dash board?

    Xecuter2 BIOS looks for evoxdash.xbe first, then nexgen.xbe and finally xboxdash.xbe.

    If you rename evoxdash.xbe to something else (f.e. evox.xbe), neXgen will be your primary dashboard.

    i guess the first thing i'd check would be the username and password - you know they are different for nexgen right?

    if you're using the defaults then evox is
    xbox:xbox
    and nexgen is
    nexgen:nexgen

    i don't know why your evox disk won't work, perhaps you should burn it again - bear in mind that for a boot disk to work, the dash needs to be called default.xbe, not evoXdash.xbe!!

    good luck!

    Thinking about flashing my 360, just some question before/if

    I'm thinking about flashing my 360's drive, and would like to know if it is 100% safe, will i get banned from xbl playing a burned game? and also if i do it, will it damage the drive itself?.

    thanks.

    Re: Thinking about flashing my 360, just some question befor

    Nothing is 100% safe, many people who don't do enough reading and are not well prepared (and even some that do) brick their drive

    So far, nooe has been banned from XBL, but that is no indication of the future.

    Sounds lke you need to stay with stock firmware
