    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

Note: Don't plan on doing this if you have a non-RGH compatibile motherboard (non-HDMI, Xenon or Opus). Else, there is no way out of your flag on the current dash.

    Surely that goes without saying?

The only deciding factor on this working is if you have (or can obtain) your CPU key.

    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

It is implied, yes. But if you have only modified your DVD FW and are new to RHGing / dumping your NAND, it's an easy fact to miss. I, for example, have managed to get myself into this predicament:

    - I was on LIVE when dae.bin was pushed, but never got an 'Unsupported Disc' error. No XVal flag either.
    - A few days later, I was curious if I actually got the new dae.bin.
    - I decided to test booting AP25 offline (Blame Skyrim withdraw.)
    - I figured if I did get flagged, I could dump and hex the NAND like always.
    - Got the error and got flagged. Remained offline.
    - Began hacking together an LPT cable to dump my NAND, until I learned that secdata.bin is encrypted nowadays and you need your CPU key.
    - I was one click away to ordering a NAND X and CoolRunner, until I learned that Xenons aren't RGH compatible. So I'm stuck.

In retrospect, I should have dumped before I tested booting. But I had no LPT cable built, nor a USB SPI flasher. Laziness got the best of me.

No biggie though. It's my own fault for not keeping up with RHG compatibility and secdata encryption. And three days of obsessive tinkering and a flagged xbox was the price I paid. (Although I will say, many scene sites misleadingly say 'RHG is compatible with every xbox'. But what they mean is every kernel / dash version, currently on most motherboards. But not Xenon and Opus motherboard revisions.)

I am a bit disappointed since this was a Launch console. It's been chugging along since 2005. No rrod. It was the little Xbox that could. I guess we can just hope for M$'s grace from the ban hammer. Question is now: Should I log onto LIVE and hope M$ sees this as one possibly retail AP2.5 flag? Or ride out the ban wave forever?

So, what you need are as follows:

    1. NAND-x (or a RELIABLE USB SPI reader/writer)

    2. A method to get your CPU key (or if you have it already, even better). So RGH is possible on most HDMI consoles. You only need to get it to glitch once for the CPU key and once you have it you can disconnect.

    3. Easy ggbuild (latest version). You can get this working with just ggbuild but it's far easier using this tool.
So do I need to make #2 bigger or fif you just not read it?

I was trying all of this before I saw your guide. But your guide is fine. And very useful btw. I was just re-emphasizing for anyone who missed that fact.

You are right, it is not. With that being said I am a noob to this process and RGH. With some soldering experence, your guide, and a few others I just pulled it off. the hardest part was the soldering involved in installing the cool runner.

Thank you martin for your guide Xbox live would be useless to my Xbox without it.

    Re: NEW: Unflag Xenon

    Unflagged a banned Xenon!

started on dash 8195 or something like that.

    1) usb upgrade to 13604 failed
    2) usb upgrade to 9199 worked
    3) usb upgrade to 12625 worked
    4) usb upgrade to 13146 failed
    5) usb upgrade to 13599 failed
    6) CD upgrade to 13599 worked!
    7) Dawned on me to check XVAL. It was CLEAN!
    8) usb upgrade to 13604 worked!

Bottom line, turned a banned/flagged/RROD Xenon into a functional offline console on the current dash! Awesome. I don't understand it but somewhere in the upgrade process I described above the flags were cleaned......

(then I thought about connecting to live, caught myself before stupid took over.... )

    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

back in 2009 when this console was banned I recovered my profile from Live onto another system, and trashed the corrupt version. No worries on that point.

btw, performed all these upgrades without a hard drive, only a 256MB MU installed, and no profiles defined

As soon as you put the profile back on that console it will be corrupt again, you gotta clean the secdata of the ban flag....

    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

    ok.

    bit more info.

I checked XVAL prior to this process and it indicated the console was banned.

I checked XVAL after this process and it indicated the console was clean.

Are XVAL results not representative of the status of secdata.bin?

    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

Yes, this will clean anything off your console to do with profile corruption and provided you were only flagged OFFLINE, you won't be banned from anything you did previously.

    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

    hi guys!
    i have a XBOX 360 SLIM 0225 4GB.

    When i try update them from 13146 to 13604, i have a E81 error!

    My questions:

I can solve this problem with this procedure using the RGH?
This error occur because my console was flagged?

    thanks, so much.

A flagged console can still be updated.
What's the history of the console?

    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

Martin, I have a couple questions regarding the unflag process.

First off, some background. I have a trinity(with hanna) slim. I fall into the "silent update" group. I only had my console on for ten seconds, and got the update. I did not play any games online. I shut off the console, disabled my wireless connection and prepared to wait for a possible solution. My son, unknowing, put a back up copy game in and bang I got the "failed to recognize". My xval currently shows a failed(offline) ap2.5 challenge. The console has not been back online since the update, so it has not been MS server exposed yet.

I have the nand x and cool runner coming. However, I do not plan on using the unit in a FSD (jtag)mode, as it is used on XBL. I just want to clear the secdata bin of the offline flag. I understand I will need the CPU key (hence the cool runner) to achieve this. My questions are these.

    1. I assume I will have to do the complete cool runner install to the mother board (yellow and Blue wires) to get my cpu key. You can correct me if I am wrong.

I know I have to get the console to glitch once to achieve this.

    2. Will leaving the nand x and cool runner QSB's , along with the cool runner board installed, without installing any jtag software (FSD, ect) do anything to effect the console's normal startup?

If so, what is the easiest way for me to disable this setup, while leaving it installed for possible future use, with out clipping wires or having to de solder any points.

I appreciate any help you could provide me. I have been reading for a few days now while waiting for my package of goodies to arrive.

I would assume their would be many testers that fall into this same category. I have read several conflicting statements regarding an offline ap 2.5 flag on a console. Mainly as to weather you will be flagged for potential ban or not on the server side when you log into XBL. If you have any insight into this, I would appreciate your opinion as well.

Thanks again to you, Uber and the rest of the admins for all your help.

    Re: NEW: Unflag console guide

Once you have the CPU key, unless you intend on using this as an RGH console down the line you can remove the coolrunner completely.

This process will remove the offline flag as stated.
