Jungle Flasher Tutorial For Liteon 74850C

This tutorial is written as a guide only. Team Xecuter will not be held responsible for any unauthorized software that is programmed to your 360 drive.

You first need to determine if you have a Liteon 74850C.

This tutorial is ONLY for the Liteon 74850C. We will show you how to successfully dump the DVD key and update the firmware using Jungle Flasher and a CK3 Pro, CK3 Lite or Blaster CK3 and the CK3 Probe.

Things You Will Need:

  • Jungle Flasher v0.1.72 Beta (or latest)(Download)
  • iXtreme LT Firmware
  • Compatible Sata Chipset
  • .NET Framework 2.0 or Higher (Download)
  • Blaster CK3, CK3 Pro or CK3 Lite (Buy)
  • CK3 Probe (Buy)
  • CK3 USB Drivers (Download) (Only required if using USB on the Blaster CK3 or the CK3 Pro. You do not need these if using the Serial port)
  • You will need to remove the back plate from the Liteon 74850C DVD – See This Page
  • This tutorial assumes you have a 32 bit operating system. You can use a 64bit OS if you have the latest Jungle Flasher.

Make sure you have iXtreme LT for Liteon in the Jungle Flasher firmware folder.

In this tutorial we are using a VIA 6421 SATA card. You need to remove the VIA driver before using it with Jungle Flasher to prevent your system locking up when you try to erase the Liteon. If you are not using a VIA SATA Card you can skip this step.

To remove the VIA driver:

  1. Disable VIA card in Device Manager (Right Click – Disable)
  2. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers and remove “viamraid.sys” or “vsmraid.sys”
  3. Re-Enable VIA card in Device Manager (Right Click – Enable)
  4. Re-Boot PC.

If you are asked to install the VIA drivers when you reboot just click cancel. Check that your VIA SATA card is disabled. There should be a yellow exclamation mark next to the driver. You should also note that the PortIO32 drivers have installed successfully.

Tip

If you are having any trouble with any running any software or installing any drivers we recommend you temporarily disable as many “in-memory” programs as you can (e.g. Firewalls, AV Programs etc).

Via 6421 Disabled

We are now ready to use Jungle Flasher.

Connect your Liteon 74850C DVD Drive to your PC using your Blaster CK3, CK3 Pro or CK3 Lite. Start up Jungle Flasher and go to the DVDkey 32 tab. You might have to change the I/O Port to find your Liteon. In the example blow the I/O port is found at 0xD400. Once you find it, you should see the drive listed under Drive properties (Vendor: PLDS ; Name: DG-16D2s ; F/W Rev: 7485). Make sure you un-check the box that says “Dummy.bin Only”. If you have gotten this far your SATA communication is working perfectly.

If you are using USB to connect to your Blaster Ck3 or CK3 Pro then you need to set your COM port to the correct one on your system. In this case it is COM4. If it’s connected it will display “Xecuter CK3 Pro”. If you are using the serial cable it will probably be COM1.

Extract Liteon 74850C DVD Key

Once you have identified your Liteon, you need to prepare your Liteon DVD Drive for DVD Key extraction:

  1. Press Eject on the Blaster CK3 / CK3 Pro / CK3 Lite (Switch is Lowered)
  2. Power off the Xbox (Blaster 360) or set the power switch to OFF (CK3 Pro / CK3 Lite)
  3. Push the tray half way in
  4. Press Eject on the Blaster CK3 / CK3 Pro / CK3 Lite (Switch is Raised)
  5. Power on the Xbox (Blaster 360) or set the power switch to ON (CK3 Pro / CK3 Lite)

Now connect the CK3 Probe as per the following diagram. We recommend you put some tape over the voltage regulator so as to make it safer and prevent any unnecessary shortages.

tip

Tip

Some of you are posting that you get no green LED when connecting the CK3 probe to R707 on a Liteon 74850 drive. The answer is simple – chances are you have already previously flashed your drive with ixtreme fw. Once that has happened then is no serial connection going to R707 (a serial connection provides 3.3v) therefore no LED and no way to dump the key (Serial is turned OFF on 83/93 based fw – and iXtreme LT is based on 93 fw) – but if you already flashed your drive you will have your OFW and Key saved (or at least you should)! So when you FIRST use the CK3 Probe on a stock drive – always make sure you save your OFW / Dummy.bin / DVD Key – then you will be able to upgrade your drive without the need for the Probe in future. To prove that your CK3 Probe is not faulty – simply return the drive to its Stock 74850 fw and you will see that the green LED works again as there is now a serial connection going to R707. Note: Any keys that you have dumped are stored in the Jungle Flasher Key Database so don’t panic if you think you lost your key !

Now click on the DVDKEY32 button. If successful Jungle Flasher will dump the key 6 times. Jungle Flasher will ask you to save your Key.bin, Inquiry.bin, Identify.bin & Serial.bin. Jungle Flasher will then create a dummy.bin which holds all the information in one convenient file. If you get invalid errors then your DVD tray is not pushed half way in or your CK3 probe is not connected correctly. naturally there are many reasons why you would get errors – but those two are the most common. If you followed the steps up to this point correctly you should not have any problems.

warning

Warning

When extracting the key of a Liteon, there is a chance that the key can be corrupted, but it still may look valid. The only way to truly know that it works is to spoof the key to another drive and test it out. If it plays a game, the key is good. We have never personally ever had a bad key, however spoofing to is the only way to be 100% sure so is naturally optional but recommended if you have the option of another drive to test.

Jungle Flasher will ask you to auto-load iXtreme firmware. Click YES.

This is the result of the autospoof. Your DVD key should be the same from the dummy.bin to the ix16-liteon.bin

Erase Liteon 74850C

If you are sure that you have dumped your DVD key correctly click on YES.

Erase Liteon 74850C

You now need to be ready to power cycle your Blaster Ck3 (Xbox Power Button) or CK3 Pro / Lite Power Switch. Click YES when you see this prompt.

Erase Liteon 74850C

As soon as you click YES, you will power cycle the drive. That means shut it off for 1 second and turn it back on. If everything is successful you will get good Flash Chip Properties. (The image shows a Winbond/NEX, some will have MXIC)

Erase Liteon 74850C

You are now ready to program your Liteon 74850C DVD Drive. Click on the WRITE button. It will first send an Erase command…..

Flash Liteon 74850C

Then will Write to the drive….

Flash Liteon 74850C

And will then verify that everything programmed correctly…..

Flash Liteon 74850C

Now click on the Outro/ATA Reset Button and your drive will revert back to its non-vendor state.

Send Outro To Liteon 74850C

Now go test that drive – you are all done.

Just bought a Blaster CK3. I was about to buy a VIA 6421 SATA card when i realized that with the Blaster you dont need to connect to a SATA port. If I use the USB connector could i get away with not buying a VIA 6421 card?

Xecuter: Of course you need to connect it to the Sata card – You should read the tutorial :)
