winbound mxic spoof 0251

Hi was wondering if i have a 0251 mxic chip and say a 0401 winbound chip is theyre any reason i cant swap them and just flash LT+ 3.0 0401 to the 0251 chip without getting caught thanks Im under this impression because all the liteon drives for phats could be flashed with different firmware...
