Works for winbond chip! same method is used to unlock the mxic chipset drives.

I received a lite-on DG-16d4s 9504 drive in for flashing last week and my VIA card refused to work properly so i had to revert to my onboard sata to flash the drive and had a hell of a time getting it into vendor mode, managed to figure out a solution and thought i'd share it with you guys as ive noticed some of you having the same problem.

so heres the problem, when you try to intro the device the status show's 0x51 when you powercycle the drive the statues goes back to 0x51, not good :(

Solution:

Carefully disconnect the ribbon cables from the board and flip it over. and follow the steps in this picture.

once you have done this you can flip the board back over.

now go back to jungle flasher and hit intro, click yes to resend mtk vendor intro, now the status will be 0x51 now touch the 2 wires together and the status will change to 0xD1 keep the wires connected and a few secs later the status will change to 0x80 now disconnect the wires and the status will change to 0x72 and your drive will now be in vendor mode, if you get status 0x51 again powercycle the drive and retry the above step.

now its in vendor mode you can proceed to dump the key & drill the chip to remove spi lock :D

the onboard sata controller is nvida nforce but this should work for intel and other controllers.

Hope this helps some of you out. :D

The ground to the cut pad. Along with a 10ohm resistor.

Or to make everything easier. Get a USBpro

just wondering why can't you not just solder one end of the wire to the GND and touch the other end to the trace cut
because the power and sata cables need to be connected to the board while its flipped over and it just makes it awkward, and after you get it into vendor mode you need to drill the chip (to flash the drive) unless you just wanted to dump the key then it would be easier to do what you say. i just found it easier to solder 2 wires onto there, flipped the board back over and getting setup to drill the chip and simply touching the wires when i needed to.

You can, but as a general rule, you dont want to solder stiff Through-Hole components to a PCB designed for SMD.

So no traces are yanked.

iv tried several times to get the drive into vendor mode just cant seem to do it, i click on slim key then it says send command to unlock slim i click no then with another pop to resend drive into vendor mode quickly repower the drive within 1 secound i click ok,

then on my ck3 pro i i turned the power switch to off then on still don't work even tried pressing the mode button then to make the light go red then press it again to go back to blue, what shall i do anyone much appreciated thanks. i have a 9504 drive but now it is 2072, im on dash 13599 also i have on board sata

Try the above method, just remember you dont have to powercycle the drive.

would it be possible to cut the trace with like a stanly knife or some similar tool?
also does the wires have to be soldered in those definet places because im not the best at soldering sorry guys for the stupid questions.

Yes you can use a stanley knife to cut the trace, just be careful not to dig too deep. and yes those are the definite places although you can take ground from somewhere else on the board.

so as long as i have one wire near the cut trace then the other cable has to be ground some were thanks really appreciate the help i have hit the thanks button.

once i have done all this what is to happen with the two wires i solder to the board and the cut trace can i desolder the cables.

Yes once you have flashed it you can desolder the wires and bridge the cut trace wither with a piece of wire or a blob of solder.

Or you can use a circuit repair pen to fix the trace.this is the easiest way.it like using a pen and just filling in the gap

im trying to use this method to get my 9504 (fw 0272)
into vendor mode.

I have cut the track and soldered 2 x 20cm wires to the points as described.

I have connected the drive motherboard to a SATA port on computer, when i start jf i can see my drive and get the dummy.bin. but when i try to introi get 0x51 but when i touch the wires the status doesnt change.

anyone got any ideas whats wrong? i have checked the cut with multimeter and thats fine and the wires are also ok.

Thanks for any help
