you need to have a switch on the 3.3v wire of the power cable that goes to the dvd drive.

I assume that the probe 1 should work. I know that my mini probe from my ck3 blaster works.

how where you hooking the drive up to the computer. if your lucky your onboard sata chipset could work. Really tho just make your life easy and get a usbpro you wont regret it , its worth every penny spent!

pmt conversion will not help you with an incompatible chipset.

if you have a probe1 all you need to do is add a switch to the 3.3v like I said earlier and follow the JF tut.

not knowing your setup I would guess it is on an I/O port it would be 0xXXXX (replace the X's with numbers), you said the drive shows up in drive properties? if it does then your chipset is compatible id it was not compatible it would say drive not detected, but there is still a chance that JF will freeze up when you go to write to the drive

oh i thought something had to be displayed under com port in order for the flashing process to work correctly.

i didn't ask about anything with a ck3 probe .
Bro your just not getting it! he is telling you what I told you from the beginning, if you add a switch to the 3.3v wire of the probe 1 dvd power cable you will have just made a pmt conversion cable! I think you should read the links people have given you about the making a PMT with the equipment you already have and using the method for key retrieval.

if it reads your drive then it is compatible, but as I said earlier just because it reads your drive and it shows up does not mean that you wont experience problems with the whole process like it freezing when you write the firmware to the drive. All I can suggest is make the conversion cable and try flashing your drive it will either work or it won't I cant tell you that.
That is something you will have to find out on your own, and if it does not work get a usbpro then it will work FACT.
