Ok here's the deal. I got a X3 lying around that already has been flashed with the 1959 bios for 1.0-1.4 version boxes. I want to put it in a 1.6 box. However when I boot up it just frags, it's not wiring I tried other chips - so I know it's just the bios. Thing is how do I go about getting it to let me reflash. If I do the power + eject boot up it doesn't do anything. I would just stick it in a 1.4 and reflash but all the boxes I have lying around are 1.6's - any quick fix ideas??

Thanks.

the quick fix is easy - fit it correctly and you wont get FRAG on your backup.
As I stated I put a 2.6 in using the same pin header and wire harness and it didn't frag, so shouldn't the solder points all be fine? If not let me know.. and I'll resolder it - again.

Problem solved. I just got my hands on a 1.4 and soldered it into that and reflashed with the 1.6 bios. Then it worked fine. Like I said the solder points in the 1.6 were fine, but thanks for the help anyways

Btw - This is the 3rd one of these chips I've installed and I must say, they rock. Keep up the good work.

Spoof, then flash or flash, then spoof?

I'm replacing my Benq drive with a spare Hitachi 47 lying around. I've never spoofed it before, but it seems straight forward.

Should I:

1) flash my new hitachi drive with hitachi firmware then spoof it as a benq?
2) or should I spoof the hitachi as a benq then flash with hitachi firmware?
3) or do I spoof the hitachi as a benq, then flash with BENQ firmware?

Thanks
