1.6/b bios flashing question

Ok, we bought my grandpa one of those christmas xbox bundles that comes with top spin and ncaa. Well, now i just bought a x2.6 modchip for him and i'm going to install it for him, i have no problem with installing it, that is easy. but i'm worried about the bios.

From what i have read i have to download the M8+ bios, whats the difference from this bios and the old M8 bios?

Why do i have to make a 1meg bios image using X2 bios editor and put the flashbios in banks 1&2 and M8+ in banks 3&4? Ive read because the M8(+?) bios only works in the last banks. is this still true?

Also, i have not opened up his xbox (he lives 3 hours away, i'm going to do it when i go visit them for christmas) so i dont know if it is a 1.6 or 1.6b. And i ordered the chip from system-mod and i dont know what flashbios version it comes with. Is it true that the 3.03 flashbios only works with 1.0-1.5 and 1.6b still?

If that it is true, then could i put the 2.6 in my 1.1 xbox, and flash the first 2 banks with 3.01 and the last two banks with 3.03 just so that i can load up the proper bios according to which version 1.6 xbox he has?

You'll actually need the M8+16 BIOS. The difference between the M8 and M8+ is that it fixes the RAM timings on the 1.6b - since the M8+16 works well on both 1.6 Xboxes, it's worth using by default.

Yes - for some reason, the M8/M8+ BIOS boots better from Bank 2.

Again, yes. I have had the 3.0.3 working on a 1.6, although it's touch and go.

If you're going to flash the chip in your 1.1 Xbox, you may as well put FlashBIOS 3.0.3 on Bank 1 and Evox M8+16 on Bank 2 at this stage.

If he has a 1.6, then Bank 1 might still boot (but unlikely) but you'll definitely be able to boot Bank 2 and use it right away.

Can i make a 1meg bios image with the x2, in the first two banks put 3.03, and the last 2 put M8+, and then flash the whole 2.6 chip with this 1meg bios hybrid, and will that be the same as individualy flashing each bank? Because this is what i have read to do and i want to make sure this is what they mean.

Yes - exactly that. Make sure you use the M8+16 and not the M8...

you dont!
it runs automatically when you run Jungleflasher
ensure you run as admin tho!
