New install ... following the X3 Install Tutorial on this site ( http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin16.htm ) using wires that came with the cable kit to do the LPC rebuild.

FRAG ... no matter how it is switched on ... no way to turn off chip ... no booting to 256K BIOS.

Desoldered the wire installation and d0 and soldered the purple pcb instead.

FRAG ... same as above.

Have checked soldering god knows how many times with multimeter. Found two bad and fixed both.

I'm posting this because I have searched the forum and have not found anyone with exactly the same problem.

Also there seem to be differing views on what a FRAG is caused by ... some say misalignment, others soldering, others bad chip ... I just need to fix this. Can someone give me a definate answer as to what my problem is? Or at least confirmation that unsoldering all that I have done the box should work as before.

Many thanks in advance.

unsoldering everything will make the box work as before, as long as you didn't screw it up.
If you unsolder it all, and it doesn't work, then you have to fix the fact that you messed something up before you can get the mod-chip to work on it.
