1.6: Did I Screw Something Up With the BIOS?

First of all, I have to say that my 1.6 Xbox with a newly installed Xecutor 2.6 is working fine great except that I think I made a mistake with the BIOS. I hope someone can fill me in.

After I got the chip installed and it booted into the FlashBIOS I installed the 512K 5032 1.6 BIOS on to bank 1. It took the upgrade, I rebooted, and blam, everything worked great. I have not touched bank 2, it still has Cromwell.

I see now, though, that what I should have done is taken the 512K 5032 BIOS, added another 512K BIOS such as FlashBIOS, and upgraded bank 2.

So I guess my question is, considering that everything is working (despite the fact that I frag when I disable my mod), should I bother flashing bank 2 or should I just leave things the way they are? If it is recommended to flash bank 2, should I put Cromwell back on bank 1? Do I need a programmer to do that? Thanks...

leave bank 2 the way it is with cromwell if youare not totally confident with 2 seperate bios on the chip..... but it might be helpfull to have a program which i use all the time get it at XBINS its called xFlash it is a Xbox program which you put on your box like any box program and make a folder on the root of C,E or F partitions called "bios" and put a copy of cromwell in there aswell as all your other bios you may have acquired along the way BTW call the bios someting helpfull (like the name on it along with build number IF APPLIES), becuz it is a pain in the arse to figure out what it is if you dont know off-by-heart. xFlash is a very usefull program because it flashs the chip with whatever bios you want and you can choose which one is flashed to boot.

Thanks jwin. I appreciate your reply. After typing my message out I came across someone talking about FlashX so I think I'm going to listen to your advice and get that put on my hard drive. I think I'm just going to leave things the way they are. As they say, if it works, don't fix it. :)

i don't think FlashX works with 1.6 boxes
i'm not sure at all though, just going by the readme.txt that came with the app (v1.0-1.5)

Hehehe, indeed I can confirm that it works. I went against my better judgement and used FlashX to put FlashBIOS 3.03 back on bank 1 and then proceed like the documentation says (create 1MB BIOS using xbm yadda yadda yadda) and lo and behold....

I enfded up right where I started. Bank 1 has 5032 and Bank 2 has FlashBIOS. Now that I've experienced it I understand how the BIOS/banks work now. :)
