Hi, my question is, how do you id a 1.6 or 1.6b model mobo, i've checked through the forums and other web sites only to find that one has samsung or hynix memory and brown wires instead of yellow, is there any definate way to distinguish between the two models, the reason for wishing to know is so as i can get the proper m8 bios for either mobo, any help on this goes without saying 'is well appreciated' and i'm sorry if this has already been answer else where on the forums but couldn't find it

cheers in advance pete

You answered your own question. The 1.6 has Samsung memory and the 1.6b has Hynix memory. If you're asking how do you distinguish a 1.6/1.6b from a 1.0-1.5, look for the square Xcalibur video chip up near where the video connector is attached to the motherboard. The 1.6/1.6b versions are the only ones that will have that chip. There's no more certain way to do it than this !

No problem. I personally have YET to see a 1.6B. I've modded probably 10 or so Xboxes purchased within the past 4 months and they've all been 1.6 versions.
