1.6b, 2.6 Xecuter, M8+16, Evox from Slayers 2.5, 120Gb HDD

I have been working on this for the past 12 hours and can't find any answers...

I have the above setup and it is all working fine except I can't load any apps or games from the HDD (I installed a new 120gb WD drive and have formatted/rebuilt using Slayers).

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get it all working please?

I have tried copying the C and E drives from the original HDD but that didn't work. I have tried Avalaunch, that didn't work either. I'd be really grateful for any info.

Boot from Slayers CD and FTP to your Xbox. Can you copy anything to the HDD?

Yes, I can boot to both Slayers CD and to the Evox Dash. I can FTP also.

You mean you can boot the HDD without a CD in there?

If so, what option did you choose to install your apps etc..?

Yes, I can.

I have tried both the F and the C installs. I have just done a fresh format and install/rebuild (on C) with Slayers 2.6. Still no luck.

ok - if you have a normal BIOS (i.e you haven't edited it with EVTool to change drive letters), then you should just need to select

3a1) FULL INSTALL/REBUILD LARGE HD - *C* 5960

It will format the large HDD, copy the MS and Evox Dash files to C, Gamesave files to E and your Apps to F.

Try this option then let me know what happens.

That's exactly the one I just tried. I can then boot from the HDD to the Evox Dashboard but when I try to open any Apps (XBMP, DVD2XBOX, ProjectxHDD Loader etc) from the menus the evox loading screen appears and freezes on it.

When I had Avalaunch running I managed to get into the File Manager but even when selecting a default.xbe file from any of the application folders (and being prompted to open the selection app) it still hung.

Some more info which I think may be useful...

I used a 1Mb Bios (M8plus16) and after reading more tonight I think I should've only used a 512kb bios? I couldn't get X2BM to work so I used a different flash util (Ixai or something like that). When the chip is connected via the programmer you have two large banks. I will try a 512kb flash on Bank 2 tomorrow.

I appreciate your help. I have modded several xboxes prior but this is my first 1.6b!!! They are getting harder!

Are you making sure you're booting from Bank 2? Even though you've flashed a 1MB BIOS to your chip, you must still boot it from Bank 2.

I have the exact same problem. Slayers EvoX 2.6 just freezes after trying to open an app on the Please Wait... screen.

I have flashed a 512k bios to bank 1. Do I need to flash the bios to bank 2?

Yes - you need to boot the Evox M8plus 16 BIOS from Bank 2.

Just to let you know that I just flashed Cromwell FlashBios 3.0.3 on Bank 1 and M8plus16 on Bank 2 using Ixia (both 512k Bios) and it's now working a treat... so far anyway. No bother loading Apps from HDD.

Firstly I flashed Flash Bios 3.0.2 to banks 1&2.

I then booted to flash bios 3.0.2 and flashed with 1mb Bios, which I created in Bios Manager: 2x 256k of Flash Bios 3.0.2 (3.0.3 wouldn't work) for bank 1 & 2 and 2x 256k bios of M8-16+ for banks 3 & 4.

All works great.

Hope people find this useful as it took me hours to find this information.

samsung flashing question

im planning on flashing a new rig with a samsung drive, how do i know what drive it is, i ran xbins and it gives my four choices, SH-D162C, SH-D162D, SH-D163A and SH-D163B, and i cant find the Samsung: iXtreme 1.61 firmware anywhere.
