I have a box I am modding for someone that has a MFG Date 2004-12-16. It has Samsung memory. Customer got X3 from MCM, one of the X3CE's that is supposed to have flash303 on Banks 5-8 and 301 on1-4. But I have had a few weird problems with it. It blew the transistor that's next to the TSOP. That wasn't so wierd since I have fixed a few that others have blown. This was just the first one that happened to me, but no big deal, I was prepared.
I have only done this with banks 1-4 (on-on-off-off) selected and 5-8 (off-on-off-off) selected and I get nothing. The only way flashbios 3.01 comes up is to have all switches off. another thing is I have to hit the on button really fast or the chip does not enable, I get the red X and the Microsoft dash comes up. I have done near a hundred installs but not alot of 1.6b's untill lately. I also have fifteen years in electronics repair just to give a little background. This issue with the enable/disable has been addressed by doing the LPC rebuild twice with rebuilder and this last time (the third time) I did it with 30awg solid core wire (my prefered way is with the wire but it does take longer) I have checked for solder bridges and broke traces and the usual stuff, but with no luck. I am sure the install itself is solid. In the past I have run into this problem where it diables to easily but I cleaned up the install and that corrected the problem and it took 3 sec hold to disable the chip. This was usually a box someone else had done a sloppy install to and brought it to me to fix. someone
