Ok. I have a 1.6b with a X3. Do I have to have LAD2/Pin8? If so is there another place to solder the pin8 to? Other than across from c7t3?

I did a search on LAD's and Voltages. Can I solder pin8 to another 3.3v then it will work?

Thanks,
Rich

possible to move motherboard from 93450c to an older drive

Hey Everyone,

I realize that this is a site for modding xbox's but I'm not looking to do that. As you all know these drives fail all the time with decent use. My son and I play a lot so we go through drives every 3-4 months. My problem is that one of our 360's just quit working again and it is now out of warranty. I have replaced drives in our older 360's before so I know that the motherboard needs to be swapped first but then you are good to go.

Now onto my problem. The one that just quit has a 93450c f/w drive in it and I can't find a replacement for it anywhere. My question is if I buy a new 74850c drive can I put the motherboard from my 93450c into it and be okay? We both play live all the time so I don't want to get banned.

thanks for your help!!

Re: possible to move motherboard from 93450c to an older dri

to answer your question, no you cannot switch out ANY dvd drive for ANY replacement (even of the same make & model) it isn't just plug n play. Each xbox 360 dvd drive has a unique dvd key, this is what you need to extract from the busted drive and copy onto your replacement drive. Now to get the dvd key from the lite-on 7x and 9x series you are going to need to build or buy some hardware depending on which version lite-on drive you have.

Probably the best thing to do is have someone who is familiar with flashing xbox dvd drives to do it for you.

Also another recommendation is to get a hdd and install your games to it, this way the dvd drive isn't constantly in use while playing a game and should prolong its life.

my info regarding the xbox 360 dvd drives is based from experience, not sure if its 100% accurate & someone please correct me if im wrong, but I just tried to make my response short & sweet lol

Re: possible to move motherboard from 93450c to an older dri

When I replaced the older models all I had to do it switch out the motherboards, that is where the key is and it worked fine. This is the first time though where I have a newer drive and wanting to replace it with an older one because I can't find the new ones.

How do you move the games to the HDD? Never heard of being able to do that.

Re: possible to move motherboard from 93450c to an older dri

hmm lol I think your right about the dvd key being on the mobo. but basically to go from a lite-on 9x to 7x your going to need to copy the dvd key from the 9x to 7x, this requires physically opening the using the specially designed probes/boards to retrieve the key from each series drive. Once you have the dvd key from the 9x you can copy it to the 7x use it on that xbox 360.

to copy the games to the hard drives
hover over the icon of the game on the xbox dashboard
hit "y" for game details
then it gives you the option to install it to your hard drive.

now your still going to need the game in the drive to play, it just loads everything from the hard drive so your dvd drive isn't constantly spinning.

Re: possible to move motherboard from 93450c to an older dri

if you swap the pcb from the drives it will work fine all the hardware is the same inside.

take the pcb out of the 9 drive and put it into the 7 hardware and put it back in your xbox and it will work fine.

I think with the benq and lite-on drives you need to de-solder a couple wires. the easiest fix would probably be just buy a new laser.
