1.6b Xbox & 3ce display prob.

Hi there

I am your regular noob xbox person.
I have an Xbox 1.6b .. and have soldered the 3ce executer in.
the unit came up fine first pop.. with the 3.03 display
I downloaded the latest 1MB bios. and did a http flash.
The flash did not complete.. .. I changed the switch positions
booted up and did the same http flash.
Unfortunately I had the switch in the wrong position for both cases.
512k position. (bad me )
Ok so I flashed the 1mb 2 times .. and now the unit will not boot up at all
with any display.
After further reading all posts. tutorials..etc.. I decided to resolder it.
I have re-soldered the pins 4 times now. and I am not inclined to
solder again.. as I am confident that it is good. ( each time I did the re-solder .. Tested and exactly the same).
My guess is that when I burnt the 1mb bios, it overwrote some important code there?
I have also tried to boot the backup, (power and eject buttons.. and re-pressing the eject button..etc no luck). I have tried pressing all buttons on the microcrap joystick.. and powering up.. anyting I can think of to try to get the 3.03 display up.
All lights are on .. ( no hot chips, no burn marks and all buttons work correctly on the Xbox.)
Advice on what to do next would be appreciated.

Sounds like you've flashed over 3.03. FlashBios 3.01 won't work on a 1.6b, which is why your back-up isn't working. Do you know anybody else with an X3 who could re-flash it for you.

Ok so the only way I can fix this now is to get one of those parallell port flashers and upload the 3.03 to it..

Or is it possible to put a 3.03 onto a cdrom and do it that way?

Unfortunately, there isn't an external programmer for the X3. To restore flash bios, you need to find someone with a non 1.6b X-box who can flash it for you.

Ok it seems I am buggered untill
these guys can come up with a way of letting me update the backup to a 3.03. or something..
I hope that the developers are eyeballing this and can post a reply / solution..

Ok So the Reality is..
** I have an Xbox 1.6b
** The 3ce's Backup rom is only a 3.01 (which does not work on a 1.6b Xbox)
** In Reality More and more Joe's like me will be asking the same question..
....... why is the backup rom only a 3.01 ?
....... how can I make the backup rom a 3.03 so it will work?
** Seeming there is no programmer as yet .. and (in my case) bugger all people around with the older version of xbox that I can re-rom-burn..etc
### This is an obvious issue that will snowball as more people do as I have.. Can one of you dev people please at least look into a fix for this..

The idea is, you flash an X3 bios using the 3.03 supplied on the chip, you then flash the back-up bios via X3CL. Unfortunately, you appear to have deleted the 3.03.

Any xbox with an X3 or X2.6 will get you out of trouble, or any xbox prior to 1.6B.

If there is an X3 or X2.6 installed already you do a hotswap (search if you want to know more)
Or if you can find an unmodded xbox prior to 1.6b, you can do a fresh install using your components and flash it in that.

The reason for 3.0.1 being on the bakup is, V1.6 cosoles cannot use 3.0.3
In the eyes of the noob who flashes over his 3.0.3, the "developer" as you say is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. You see what I mean? Either way there will still be one version xbox that cant originaly access backup, but once setup correctly it can be made to work. (As adam stated above)

The only step I have is.. go find some person that has an older xbox that I can play swap the chip with.
((Anyblody live in Melbourne Australia be kind enough to play swap's?))

Or I can hope that they produce an external rom burner card that can handle
these new ones.
