did a very tidy install into my 1.6b with the X3 put the whole thing back together put all the plugs in and held down the power button to see if the mobo would boot with the chip disabled and guess what it did, so i tryed putting the chip into back up mode nothin happened so i tryed again nothin, but i just pressed the eject button and i got orange around the eject button i thought sh*t but then the lights flashed and went green the cromwell screen apeared on my tv so i thought great switch off the mobo and tryed putting it into back and it went into back so all together a complete success me and my step dad spent an hour or two taking our time.
My suggestions to a good job
1) use a weller 12 watt soldering iron with a fine point
2) check and double check the pads your soldering to (make sure you get the right pad)
3) put a small blow off solder on the pad first (tinning the solder pad)
4) tin the wire your using, for the lpt i stripped and pc ide cable
5) take your time the more time you spend now the less time you spend re doing your work
just going to start flashing the chip i'm not going to change the flash bios from 3.0 until i know that there are no problems with 3.03 just going to put the latest bios onto it through ftp or http protocal and get the evox dash on there
cheers team xecuter this looks like a really good chip
