Hmm I see. It may be risky a shortcut may damage dvd-rom, but seems to worth. I definetly think to buy ck3i but a fast solution for now would be great.
In power cycle operation, first I have to press yes button then unplug/plug cable right?
What does this mean? Do I enter into vendor mode but key extraction failed?
If so my problem is not about powercycle. It is about chipset compability??
I do slim drives all the time. The tools i use are:
X360USB PRO (updated to firmware v18)
CK3i to power the drive.
Although the CK3 is used to power the drive and power cycle, etc it is not essential.
I have used a dvd power cable spliced into my pc power supply to power drives and its worked perfectly. You could also just use the xbox360, pulling the power cable from the back of the drive to power cycle but its not recommended(some say it flags the console, don't know if thats confirmed? i cant remember).
The bare minimum would be the usb pro. Its definately a sound investment.
