Has anyone modified the xbox with a DC-DC 12 volt vehicle power supply? I want you use my xbox in my car without using a DC-AC power inverter. It seems like a lot of over head to convert from 12 volt DC to 110 volt AC just to have the internal power supply convert it back down to 12 volt DC. I've seen the DC-DC vehicle power supplies that are designed for the mini-atx. Any thoughts? I'd love to see a mod replacement for this.

I did this

I did this with the OPUS 120v DC-DC power supply. (try google) I had to adapt the power cable with a little curcuitry to convert some signals. Also, it will only work with v1.0 to v1.5 xbox's...not 1.6.

send me a message or post here if you are still interested in how I did it.

it seems a little crazy to convert the xbox to DC/DC. you would need to completly bypass the internal supply and have a DC/DC 12V to the multiple down voltages. I would believe that an inverter would be far less expensive.

It could be done though.

sry but my 2 cents.

why not just get a DC to AC convertor and just plug the xbox into that.

I currently use a DC to AC power inverter. I have to have the car running or it overloads it. I guess the XBox sucks down too many amps.

Of Guru I would love to see how you did it.
