I'm guessing this has been asked before, but I had trouble finding a straight answer so hopefully someone won't mind posting a reply...

With the current X3 bios and latest releases of popular dashboards such as Evox, is there any benefit to limitting the size of your F: partition to 137GB and putting the rest on G: rather than just putting it all on F:? Thanks in advance for the info...

Why bother? It just means you need to juggle what you put where. Just make everything an F: drive ... you might lose a little space due to the sector sizes, but it will be minimal.

So then what is the purpose behind this partitioning option in the X3 bios (137GB on F:, the rest on G:)? Is this a limit that no longer applies, regardless of whether the modchip is enabled or not, or is there a reason you might want to use this option?

Just leave the F: with the rest of the space. I have it set that way and its less confusing to have another drive (G:). But its your Xbox, do what you want with it.

It's my understanding that older bios revisions used LBA28 and couldn't see more than 137GB, but newer ones utilizing LBA48 no longer have this limitation. Is there any real reason this 137GB-per-partition option is still included in X3 Config Live?

questions b4 i mod my old BenQ

main question is do i need one of them fancy connectivity kits? as far as i know a year or two ago i would have for this drive but upon reading the tut (jungleflasher).. it never mentions one. its a BenQ vad6038 made march 08.

question the second. i forget where to find the dashboard version, but this one pre-dates the addition of the X to eject.... so am i ok to just hop online and get the newest one b4 i mod or is there a better way of going about it?

thats all i can think of for now. i know the basics ive modded my hitachi but my stupidity got it banned :( so on to scrap box # 2 lol.

Follow Jungle Flasher's steps on flashing your BenQ. In my opinion the BenQ drives are the easiest to Flash.

You can also find the Current Dashboard Update on xbox.com on the support page.

IF YOU HAVE READ THE JUNGLE FLASHER TUT THEN YOU WOULD KNOW THE ANSWER TO YOUR OWN QUESTION.

I'll humor you anyway, The benQ flashes easily with a connectivity kit but you can use the 360 to power the drive. Connect the drive to your PC via sata start JF and follow the JF tut and the instructions by the JF program and all should be good. Hooking it all up takes longer than the actual flash.

I wouldn't update dash till LT+ is released or you could wait till the release of LT+ to do your flash as well.

I READ IT WELL KTHX DONT BE A PRICK.

i really dont think you understood my post enough to comment. all i was looking for was a quick yes or a no.. not for somone to hold my hand, witch is what it seems you think im asking for. maybe YOU should read the tut and find point out where it mentions anything about what i asked about.

so anyway i got it done no thx to your help. i did NOT use a kit and i did NOT update. 3 mins if that.
