Try formatting the HDD on a PC first. After you can confirm you get the full size, put back into the Xbox and reformat. Let me know what happens.

Hey,
Your not going to actually get every mb out of the 160 gig.

You'll actually see anywhere from 10 - 20 percent less due to the other drives taking space, the formatting, partition tables, etc..

They all take memory.
Plus even though you bought a 160 g hard drive the actual space is more than likely somewhat less.

Yeah, thats why a stock 8-10gb harddisk only has 4.7gb of free space, that's the equivalent of 1 dvd.
My 120gbhdd only has 111gb of space to use.

As Floppy and freakzilla said, sounds about right.

Just so you know (any anyone else wanting to know):

C: 500MB
E: 4881MB
X: 750MB
Y: 750MB
Z: 750MB

= 7631MB

You have a 120GB in F and 21GB in G

So far, that's nearly 149GB

My 160GB HDD gives about 152GB of space although that is using NTFS - FATx sacrifices a bit more space than this, so I think you've gotten as much out of it as you can.

Martin

(you could actually have it all in 1 F drive BTW)...

Soldered PCB back on, now drive is non-responsive

I sent off my Lite-on PCB to someone to have the LT Switch installed and the drive flashed. I get it back and I solder the 6 wires back and attach the 3 ribbon cables. But when I start up the box, the drive doesn't do anything and the screen says Open Tray or Close Tray or Reading (like it's trying). Eject has no response, the lase doesn't move, no spinning, etc.

I tested the 6 wires with a multimeter and it shows a good resistance reading for each one. I made sure the ribbon cables were seated properly.

What could be going on with it? The LT Switch shows a green light. I have the power plug in the right way on the drive...

I am not sure what else to try. I figure this has to be a fairly common problem. Any ideas?

Who did you send it off to? Contact them and ask them if they have successfully flashed it and if they had any problems with it.

It could have been damaged during shipping or you just didn't install it properly. Double check to make sure the ribbon cables, the LT Switch and the PCB aren't damaged anywhere and are properly fitted. Did you solder the wires back on it the right place?

Re: Soldered PCB back on, now drive is non-responsive

I had actually cut the 6 wires so they were still soldered to the pads on the PCB, so when I got it back, I soldered the wires back together at the cuts.

I sent it to TeaJunkie, who does PCB repairs etc. He sent me the firmware files and logs and drive key so it looks like it was a successfull flash.

Everything looks okay.

Since I have my OFW and drive key now from him, I just ordered a BenQ drive last night and I will just spoof the drives.
