So here's the deal, im just trying to get the kids xbox to work again.

First the xbox said "open tray" and would no longer work. I tried to find a replacement and ended up ordering the vad6038.

When it gets here the xbox just tries to play a dvd.

So I do a little reading to find out I have to somehow extract the informaion that is on the original drive to my computer and then put that information on the new drive to make it work with the xbox.

Ok, no problem.... so after several sites of mixed information on various different methods, here I am right where I started not really sure what it is I need to do to make it work.

Im sure if I spent enough time researching this project I could figure it out, but I just don't have the time anymore. I have the xbox in pieces here on my desk for the past month and the kids are not very happy about it.

Could someone please give me a list of items I need to purchase along with a play by play to get this thing working again? I seriously doubt I would attempt a home repair on an xbox again.

I already have installed jungle flasher on my home pc.

Why not take the laser from the new BenQ drive and fit it into the Lite-On? That should cure the open tray issue :).
Interesting... I didn't even know the root cause of the open tray issue. Guess that sounds like a pretty quick fix.... is it?

you need a ck3 pro, and a probe for your drive. and a pc motherboard that supports jungleflasher, if your mobo doesnt support it youll need a sata card too. thats what i have anyway.
