Hi guys, i have a strange problem with my 16mb Jtagged jasper that i did myself about 6 months ago.

I jtagged this jasper about 6 months ago using the Xecuter QSBs and NAND X, and apart from the odd failed boot (fixed by powering off completely) it has worked perfectly.
Last month i updated to the latest freeboot but did it from within the freestyle dash rather than opening up the console, everything was working fine untill last week. The console went the entire week refusing to boot at all untill yesterday when it decided it was going to work again, unfortunately its now back to not working at all. Ive tried a couple of PSUs just to rule those out but neither work so i thought i'd open it up and see if i could find out whats happening.

Ive tried dumping the nand again but no matter what i do it wont detect the flash controller (on either PC)

The next step was probably pointless but ive had to try and elimante any problems.

I started by removing the nand QSBs with a good 15w soldering iron and some solder wick, the board looks perfect on both sides and after getting the multimeter out the nand parts are perfect. Next i used the other set of wires that came with the nand X, soldered them directly to the board and checked everything with the multimeter again, everything was spot on but i'm still not able to detect it.

I wanted to remove the Jtag QSB as well to check that the xbox would actually power up without it, it does this fine (obviously doesn't get far) Again ive checked the J2D2 connections and all is perfect.

One thing i have noticed is that theres continuity between points 6 and 7 at J1D2 but as far as i'm aware they are both GND points??

I'll start from fresh with the Jtag part when i get another QSB but in the meantime i'd love to find out whats happening with the NAND so if anyone can shed any light i'd really appreciate it.

perhaps your tool is fried. Do you use it alot or just a few times? At least this is what I was told by the vendor that I got mine from.
Its something i considered but ive probably only used it 20 times, just wish i had either another Jtag to test it on or another flasher i could try. If i cant get this working i'd appreciate it if a mod would let me send him my Nand-X, i'm sure they will have a Jtag they can test it on.

My Jtag is working fine again now but i never was able to read the NAND after the initial flash, ive read a few things that suggest i'm not the only person to find this.

Is this something to do with the NAND-X or the NAND itself?

Nope - unfortunately it normally comes down to bad soldering. It normally affects those who have to constantly resolder (and ultimately break a trace).

The reason why you're not the only person is because there are people like you who don't have the correct skills and tools and try to embark on their first real soldering experience with a $200 console.

Sorry, but that's the long and short of it.

People like me???? Theres nothing wrong with my soldering skills, i certinly have the correct tools and its far from my first attempt. ive been working on consoles since the original xbox days. God knows how many Xecuter chips i installed in the original Xbox, ive done tons of LT switches and MRA hacks using the probe 2, repaired a few dodgy MRA attempts as well as 10 or so other Jtags that work perfectly.

I flashed the NAND once on this machine with the NAND-X but ive never been able to do it again so if it was my soldering i'm certain it wouldn't have worked in the first place.

Its always the same on here, your so quick to say "No its nothing to do with our products" but theres a few people on this forum alone that have posted about the NAND-X not detecting a flash controller but other programmers detect it straight away???

It was the same with the 360USB pro, i posted about the Error when connecting to a 360 HDD and straight away i was told theres no chance its the 360USB, its your fault for changing something...... few hours later they admit it was the 360USB (although not a fault)
