1959 bios flashing stalls

I have an X3 on a v1.6 xbox and I'm trying to flash the x3 1959 bios. The cromwell bios is 3.0.0 and I've followed the instructions for flashing from disc and from http and get the same result:

'Found bios update: /bios.bin (1024k)', 'flashing xecuter...' and the warning not to turn off the xbox while it's flashing, but NO PROGRESS BAR. The eject button is flashing green and amber (orange). I've let it continue for about 15 minutes with no change in status.

Here's a list of things that I've already done/checked for:
1. I'm using the X3_1959_v16plus.bin bios file and renamed it bios.bin (which shouldn't matter through http anyways)

2. I'm using the first 1024k memory, which I have set to ON ON OFF OFF for the external switch.

3. I made sure to ftp in binary mode when downloading the bios.

4. The external flash protect switch is OFF. :(

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Did you try the second 1Mb bank to see if you get different results? (OFF ON OFF OFF, I believe)

yup, tried it, same result. I even tried flipping the switch on the chip, but the startup screen informed me that the bios was read only and when i attempted to flash it told me unknown flash! halting

which seems to be the more common problem i've seen in the forums. What else could possibly be wrong? :(

its not a common problem - i hate it when ppl say that sh*t here.

this is a support forums - all you see is problems here.

please get a clue - you see 20 posts with X problem - but there are more than 100,000 users who dont have that problem - do the math PLEASE

just follow the troubleshooting and guides here www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios/

if you cant follow that then please just send it back - however you will probably be billed if the mod is fine which it usually is

I've spent hours looking for the solution to my problem. I made sure to do this before I posted because I understand how it's frustrating for people to read the same posts over and over. The closest thing I've found to this problem is where either the write-protect is either set wrong on the chip or it's set wrong on the external switch. I've checked and double-checked both switches. And yes, I've read www.teamxecuter.com/flashbios/ countless times to make sure I've been doing it correctly.

If this is such a common problem, how about pointing me to the thread or article that gives the solution. If you can do this, then I apologize for wasting your time.

New to Homebrew, help please

Looking to get a 360 and homebrew to play old school games, i have a couple questions.

1. Is jungleFlasher and IXtreme LT all i need to be able to install the homebrew? I cant sodder and i only want to do a softmod, im not worried about xbox live.

2. Does it matter what DVD drive i have?

3. Where can i find all of the emulators at?

4. Can i put homebrew on a 360 Elite?

Thanks!

Re: New to Homebrew, help please

1. No. What you want is a jtag hack, and if your 360 is up to date, unfortunatly it's impossible at this time.
2. Nope, it dosn't.
3. I don't know..checkout free60, sorry.
4. Yes, if you're able to jtag hack it.

I really, honestly think you should just get a wii and softmod it. lol
Wii's are made to emulate all the old consoles, even n64, flawlessly. It's a much uglier process on xbox 360, and there's not really a softmod avaliable to do it, where it's all softmod on wii. Hope this helps.

HAHA i have a Wii thats softmodded but i dont like how the controller is so thats why i was going to try and go the 360 route, but if its a pain in the butt i will just deal with it. The wii mod is sweet and i was hoping for something like that on the 360.

Modding a Wii is pretty easy. You need to do the twilight hack which means you need to have zelda for the wii. http://wii.brewology.com is a great site that i used to mod mine. You can play almost all old school games and play backup games plus more.

Re: New to Homebrew, help please

I would highly recomend gbatemp, everything there is recent..you don't need zelda anymore, that method is old and I'm not quite sure if it works anymore (no offence :)) lol anyway, all you need is an SD card that's like...at least 1 gb. You put bannerbomb and hackmii on it, and run them. Wii hacked.

here's a complete step by step guide, it's always up to date, it's also a sticky:

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901

Enjoy~

Edit: Forgot to mention what you can all do with it, whoops. lol

It allows you to install homebrew basically.. You can launch backups, play dvd's (why can't the wii do this without a mod?!) emulators, install .wad files (which are channels...you can get yourself lots of wiiware/virtual console games), custom themes, USB game loading...It's pretty hacked, and it's hacked well!

Re: New to Homebrew, help please

So is it possible to play Roms on a 360 with softmodding or do you have to put a mod chip in?

Do all mod chips require soddering?

Re: New to Homebrew, help please

jtag it.. add mame360 to it.. add the roms. its simple if you know hwo to solder and use a keyboard. flashing the dvd drive ahs nothing to do with playing homebrew.
