1st modchip (bad bios flash), 2nd modchip (untoched) fragging

This is a continuation of my journey to modding an xbox.

quick summary:

I soldered pin header xecuter 2.6 on v 1.5 xbox, success, until flashed with old cromwell bios (no video support for 1.5) = screwed

A friend of mine has a xenium chip, put that on a solderless adapter and boots up fine, installed evox, tried to flash mod through evox, no success = "not flashable"

next got another xbox (v. 1.0), used a solderless adapter (lpc points checked) put xenium chip on there, boots up fine. I tried my xecuter with bad bios, and frag.

and now,

I ordered a new xecuter 2.6 and put on my 1.5 xbox with solderless adapter, but just to check to see if solderless adapter installed correctly, i put the xenium chip on there, and it boots up fine, so i put the xecuter on it, and frag.

What's up with this, old chip frags, brand new chip frags, xecuter no good?

Also, do i need the 3 colored wire (lan, hd, d0) with solderless install?

I've tried everything, and I'm about to throw xecuter out of the water and never buy it again, and unless someone can tell me how stupid I am.:)

I'm not exactly certain what you mean by other one, the one I bought was a universal solderless adapter, but would that even matter if the Xenium chip boots up fine?

I even tried pin header, solderless, and wire install on 2 xboxes with the new modchip.

What can be the problem?

I mean I just recieved this in the mail, a brand new one from www.extreme-mods.com , I've been at this for 3 weeks now, and now (finally) I'm getting frustrated.

I've tried soldering on two different xboxes, I've tried the wire install on both, no broken traces no solder splashes.

Well I am using a universal solderless adapter, and yes you are right, the xenium and the xecuter feed on different pins.

I'll try the pin header and see what happens, but first I need to buy a new soldering iron, the one i have right now has just about had it. (after soldering 50 times)

Before I go and come back with an update, if there is anything else you folks want to recommend, I would be more than willing to give it a shot. (literally) :)

Did you try checking the switches and wires going to them. Were the wires completely plugged in?

The switches are fine, the mod lights up, the bank, flash, and enable lights all come on.

soldering is fine, LPC is fine, d0 is fine, switches are fine, voltages are fine, resistance is fine, traces are fine, motherboard is fine (retail kernel loads up).

The first mod chip, flashed with bad bios, that makes sense; thats why its not booting up.

There is no reason a brand new mod chip, tested on two xboxes, via all installation methods shouldn't work.

I still can't find any error on my behalf, or are there any suggestions?

Hope is just about gone.

The lights on the switch mean nothing. Did you actually test the switch with a multimeter?
