1st Slim Flash (0225)

I've flashed a couple of phat drives before but I've been asked to do a slim.

It's a Liteon 0225 drive (never been flashed before) and the console is currently on dash 12625.

I know I need a replacement PCB to flash it, but if I update to 14719, will I still be able to flash the drive or does the drive get locked on the 0272 firmware with the dash update?

0225 are already factory locked so just update the dash read the key from the drive and install the unlocked pcb

update then read the key (slimkey in JF) then either replace the pcb or mod it (sputnik or kamikaze hack).

note that spuntik is for MXIC and kamikaze is for WINBOND. But the replacement works for both.

hi my friend says there's another method of unlocking winbonds thats much easier than drilling.. can anyone help me please

If its winbond. Kamikaze is the only way. You take your chances. I always tell them will probably need a PCB. But do a kamikaze anyway. That way if I do ever mess one up...... They are prepared for it.

i always reccomend having a spare slim pcb unlocked here at all times,specially if im going to do a kamikaze,that way if somethin does happen,i can jus swap it now,they never know,then i jus remove the mt1339w and slap on a new one,making a working board
this is so my screw up only cost me 10.00 for the chip and not 30-50 ona new board.
