I put a 2.6 CE solderless in my v1.6 xbox a few days ago.I went the solderless route with the xapter, once everything was installed I made a bios disk with the EvolutioX M8 plus 16 bios and a 100 mb dummy file. The flashing went ok and the box shut off when it was done.I had the bank switch on bank one.I turned the xbox back on and it shut itself off 2 times and the third time it turned back on it fragged red and green. With the chip disabled it boots up ok with the m$ version.I triple checked all my wires on the install and they all appear to be in the right holes. On the xapter the first 2 LEDS from the screw down are red then the next one is amber the next ones greenish, almost a amber and the last ones blue.Should they all be blue or is it making good contact with the LPC as it is?Also I didn't do the LPC rebuild because I went the solderless route and I didn't think I needed to rebuild the LPC unless I was doing a wire install.Am I wrong and is that my problem?

If you booted FlashBIOS successfully then your chip connection is fine.

What size Evox M8 BIOS did you use? Hopefully bank 2 should still boot.

The Evox M8 bios I used was 256 kb.This is the first xbox I've modded. Is there a difference between a flashbios and the Evox bios I used?,because if there is I didn't do the flashbios. If so is that something I need to do if I haven't messed up my chip already? When I switch to bank 2 and turn the xbox on it just gets a black screen and the eject button pulses a greenish orange light.Should the cromwell bios appear when I boot up using bank 2 too?

ok -

Your 2.6 has 2 x 512k banks. Therefore you need to reflash bank 1 as it's screwed at the moment.

Because bank 2 has FlashBIOS 3.0.3 and you have a 1.6 you have to do a little extra to get it to boot:

1. With the Xbox off, set the switch to bank 2.
2. Switch the Xbox on with the eject button. Once the eject light stops flashing, press the eject button again.
3. Keep doing this until FlashBIOS shows up. Remember to reflash with a 512k BIOS. If you were using a good BIOS like X2CL 5035, you wouldn't have made the error as it's already a 512k BIOS.

You don't need to switch back to bank 1 before flashing, but you'll have to once it's shut down so you can boot from the BIOS.

when you fitted the chip did you get the flash bios screen? and if you did how many banks have you flashed? if the above is ok of what i have put, you are getting frag because you have flashed your chip with the wrong bios, i recomend the x2 5035v16 plus for your box hope this helps and if you have flashed the one bios put this bios on bank 2 and i give that a whirl. :)

You have to persevere with the Eject button. It may take a minute or (or three), but don't give up. I've done it a dozen times when I've only had 3.0.3 on a 1.6.

Don't forget, although the programmer is newer than the one shown in the guides, the connections etc are the same.

Also, you must have the switch connected and chip enabled for the programmer to detect it. (lights on green/red/green)

I got my programmer today,I have my modchip plugged into it and the bios manager is open but it detects my chip as a Xecuter 2 lite with 4 256 kb banks,my chip has 2 512 mb banks. The programmer came with 2 little wire leadsthat plug into something, neither one can plug into my chip so I figured their for another chip? Can I put my 512 mb bios onto the 256 kb reported bank? Also thanks to islander223 that tutorial explained it all clearly.

4 banks/2 banks is covered in a link in my sig. If you try and stick a 256KB BIOS in one of the banks in X2BM it will automatically double it to fill 512KB. The chip will only read from byte 1 and byte 512KB+1 as boot points, so the 256KB "dividers" are really for reference only I guess. I would drop X2CL 5035 v1.6+ into X2BM bank 1 (will fill both 1 and 2) and FlashBIOS 3.0.1 into X2BM bank 3 (will dupe to 4 as well). This should be the config you need, since FlashBIOS 3.0.3 fails you.

If your chip is detected by your PC then you're doing fine. The wires are for some older chips like my X2.3 lite that had to use power from somewhere other than the LPC. (I've since cheated it and wired the chip to draw from the LPC tho. :D)

I will say this as it hasn't been mentioned - DO NOT USE THE RED WIRES THAT COME WITH THE PROGRAMMER!!!

they're for a totally different chip, the 2.3a series of Xecuter chip.
