OK I guess I'm a little confused now,I put the 5035 bios in bank 1 so it filled banks 1 & 2.Now is the FlashBIOS 3.0.1 a seperate bios than the 5035?Isn't FlashBIOS 3.0.1 the cromwell bios that came with the chip and it was on bank 1 before I overwrote it?

Overwriting a modchip is like overwriting a USB drive. You replace what was there previously.
FlashBIOS is (obviously) a BIOS too, made from the legal Cromwell BIOS - I'd put a copy back into Banks 3&4. Make sure it's the right version for your Xbox (3.0.1).

I downloaded the FlashBIOS 3.0.1 rar and unpackedit and there's a256 kb image in it and a 1024 image in it,no 512 kb image.Which one a should I use?

Just fill slots 3 and 4 with the 256k flashBIOS. This is how the 256k BIOSes work with 512k/1024k chips (256+256 = 512k bank).

I'm starting to to wonder if I have a bad chip,I have the 512 kb x2 5035 v1.6 plus bios on bank oneand FlashBIOS 3.0.1 on bank 2.The box still comes on andoff twice then the third time it comes on and frrags and on bank 2 it doesn't boot the light stays green for awhile then turns amber,I can't get it to boot by turning it on by the eject button either.

If the chip was faulty, you wouldn't be able to program it.
Try flashing bank 1 with FlashBIOS 3.0.1 and bank 2 with 3.0.3. See what happens with either bank.

I just noticed something,had I read the tutorial better I would have noticed it sooner.fter I right click the appropiate bank window and pick the bios I want to use for that bank it appears in the window as "<unknown> image.bin (the filename 257 k and bank 3" then I need to flash it but the flash button is grayed out so I

..anyway so I can't flash it so I never really flashed the bios.The other part of my problem is the bios I picked for bank 1,x2 5032 (will this new bios work with my chip?) won't show up in the bank window.Any idea why not?

if you have had the bios screen then the install was a good 1, all you need to do is put as martin c has said the" x2 5035 v16 plus " for you make of box, the only thing you have done is put wrong bios on your chip. have you flashed bank 2 aswell? if not flash bank 2 with a bios, we suggest as it is the newest version of x2 at the moment put the x2 5035 v16 plus on and you will be up and running in no time,
if you have flashed bank 2 then as martin said buy a programer, very good bit of kit for around £13 and you can flash as many times as you want, especialy if you intend to do more and you not sure on bios's, but all you need is x2 5035 v16 for the 1.6 version box's and old for the rest its simple realy hope this helps.
have you switched the chip to bank 2 and booted it yet? and remember you need the x2 5035 v16plus bios for your box, if you intend to do more get a programer they come in handy, and for £13 why not
