My freind tried to mod my xbox. He put in the Solderless Adapter and 2.6 chip. We only get one blue light and no cromwell bios. It goes to the regular boot up. He said he pulled his 2.6 chip out of his xbox and it worked. Any ideas? Xbox is version 1.0.

Which blue light is it? There is a 3.3V and a 5V light. In either case with the xapter it will probably be a case of realigning the adapter on the LPC port, and making sure it sits flush with the motherboard.

Double check D0 wire is in correct place as well.

The blue light that is on, is the one in the middle of the arc of the the chip. Close to Edge of case wording.

It is not the 5V light. I have not wire going to that because it is a v1.0 Xbox.

I notice on the solderless adapter, the wires on on the top of the adapter, so the chip can not be pressed all the way down.

One other thing, if the chip is missing BIOS, would this cause the problem?

blue light coming on is good news

you need to make sure you are using the correct D0 point on the board when placing the copper wire off the xapter into the board

check out the tutorials on the front page to make sure you are placing the wire in the right D0 point for a v1.0 box

also make sure your switches are connected properly

I was not aware the D0 location is different for a 1.0 Xbox. I am having trouble finding 2.6 install instructions. Everything refers to v3/2.6 now. with V3 pictures.

The switches all light up when I flip them. Ban 1 and 2, Protect On and Off, Chip on and off.

My friend did say his 2.6 chip looks a little different than mine.

The D0 on the 1.0 apears to be in the corret position. Could the chip not have any bios? If the blue light is on, does that mean the solderless is in the correct position?

if the chip lights up then its properly aligned with the xapter

its your D0 wire that does not have a good connection with the D0 point on the board

make sure when you're placing the wire in that you hear a 'clicking' sound (do not push too hard) and that will fit it right into place without popping out on you

use this guide

The D0 wire is in the D0 hole. This is frustraiting. I heard the clicking sound and it can still be pressed down more. Is the wire trying to connect to somthing on the other side of the mother board?

The d0 wire is in the correct point. I ran an electrical wire from the D0 wire to a screw on the motherboard and nothing happened either.
