2.6 won't boot games after 1 year

Have a 2.6 chip, 1.6 box, everything has worked great for 1 year, now backup games won't load from hd or disk, but apps will and dvd's work fine. Reflashed the chip with 2 different bios M8 and 5032 for 1.6 box, same problem. Replaced hd which is an original with a 160 gig I use on another box, same problem. With bios disabled all works fine. Does it sound like the chip went bad?? Flashed fine with new bios. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
When I try to load a game using avalaunch, the loading screen comes up, says the game name, the avalaunch restarts. Tried loading games from XBMC and Pxhddloader and same thing happens.

5035 is the newest bios, but I'm not sure if it will help. You could give it a shot and see what happens.

Just incase anyone else has this problem, I figured it out. Someone disabled my chip, went into the xbox dash and turned the parental controls all the way down so only G rated games and dvd would play. This would have been a good prank if it had not been played on me !!!!!!!!

No, disabled mod chip and tried playing a game and got an error that parental control was set to low to play the game, the hardest part was trying to figure out the password to get into the parental settings.
