2.6CE/5035/Samsung/1.5 Box/ Experienced but stuck! Help!

Here's the scenario:

This is my 5th box, and I am having a heck of a time getting it to read backups and homebrews from DVD. I am no n00b at this but I clearly don't know enough to get this going:

I installed the 2.6CE chip, flashed it with the 5035 bios and all's well. The "Xecuter Rox my Box" animation comes up fine on boot, and it goes to the M$ dash. Looking at the info, it shows that it is reading fine based on it reporting a 5035 Kernel. So far so good. Next, I tried to pop in the Slayer's installer to get EVOX running, and it wouldn't read the disc. No problem, try another media (even though it's a Samsung drive). Long story short, after 40$ and a lot of favors it won't read ANY other media than original Xbox discs.

Thinking it was a drive problem, I got a known-good drive and loaded it up, and STILL won't read any other discs. So then I got a known-good 2.6CE loaded with 5035 and the known-good Philips DVD Drive and my known-good HDD (retail) and plugged it into this problematic box. STILL no reads on backups...

I am out of ideas. I'm an IPC trained solderer and do it for a living. I've checked continuity and voltages and all's well. The only thing that is different from any other xbox I've done is that this is a 1.5 box, and the Aerogel battery backup capacitor is blown, so I removed it.

Please help, I can't lose any more hair or sleep...

Well it's official. The box I have is f-ed. I can put my new chip, samsung drive and HDD in my old box and it works fine. The new box doesn't like the chip, I guess.

Thanks for nothing 'Team' Xecuter, and if my business was run with the total and arbitrary lack of support that you guys provide, I'd be out of business.

is the new xbox a v1.6 and did you use v1.6 guide
did you try using Auto installer deluxe 3.10 on a dvd-r
slayer 2.6 is old (2.7 new) i had slayer that would not work on my xbox so went with AID3 and have not looked back
mate maybe its a prolbem with your install not 100% but i say you give up to easy
this forum is done as a passtime by many of us and can,t be here 24/7 i work for a living any as of latey been doing 14 hour days then i still find time to do this

Thanks for getting back mate. I'm only pissed because if you buy virtually anything nowadays and it doesn't work, there's some recourse, and with these, there's very little one can do if things are not right as rain... I do appreciate the help, though.

Here's the scenario:

I purchased a 1.4 or 1.5 Xbox (doesn't matter) and a 2.6CE Xecuter II Chip. I installed them as I have 5 times now, without incident. I tested the wiring and power readings, and all are as they should be. I then flashed an X2 (the latest) bios onto the chip with my USB programmer. Everything is brilliant. I tried 12 types of media to get the bloody samsung drive to read, and it simply refuses to do so. So, I used the splinter cell exploit to get Evox onto the HDD so I could use the "DVD2XBOX" utility and troubleshoot the drive...and as it turns out, any disc other than retail Xbox discs come up as "Audio CD" or do not show up at all...

So, I tried several other Bioses, all to no avail. After pulling more hair out, I decided to try swapping the drives with a known-good version from my modded 1.0 Xbox (same 2.6 CE chip, same bios - 5035). I cracked the case on that box, and what'dya know - the Samsung 605 drive would read discs off of my other xbox. So, then I installed the NEW 2.6 Chip with 5035 on it into the old 1.0 Xbox, and POOF! everything worked brilliantly. So, I know the new 2.6CE chip is A-OK, and I know that the Samsung Drive is capable of reading TDK and Memorex DVD+R media, as I played Ghost Recon and Super Monkey Ball DX on my 1.0 box using the Samsung and the new chip.

So, SOMETHING on my 1.5 xbox is prohibiting the DVD drive from reading backup media. I can run unsigned code on the 1.5, and it loads to the " X2 Config Live" and EVOX, so I know the Bios has been over-ridden. I can even use the DVD2XBOX to copy original games to the HDD and play them from there! My only problem is that the bloody 1.5 box refuses to recognize any media other than original retail xbox games.

I've tested this thing to death, and the only issue I see is that the battery backup-backup Aerogel capacitor has blown out. This is not an issue, I suspect, because my 1.0 has the same problem - I just have to keep resetting the clock.
