wats up guys,

so u guys must have read my 2 posts earlier. about Direct soldering the alt 5v wire on the x2.6CE on a 1.6.

Well EVERY attempt to turn it on it frags. And yes ive had fragging boxes b4 and i know how to troubleshoot. I double, triple and 4x checked the soldering job. and yes it's good. i actually unsolered everything and REsolder t using minimal solder as possible and it still fragged. IF i had a working digi cam i would take a picture, but im afraid i dont have one, except my fone camera and that would do any good..lol... anyway.

the only problem i see is alt 5v b/c it's direct soldered. but tha should not bee that much of a problem.

if i am unclear please let me know, also ill try and get a better clear pic with a buddy's camera hopefully at good resoluetion

Does the box still work fine with the chip disabled? If not this rules out that alt 5v line...

have you ever had the bios screen up yet, If not bad job it looks like simple as that, take the rebuild off and try with wires as this way can cause frag easy if not put on correct and they can also hide traces or splashes of solder that you may not see with it there, id give wires a go take rebuild off and try that

I took the wires off and tried the adapter for the pcb rebuild again. no good. so chip is 100% bad. i ordered a few more so we'll see what happens.

I would think the chances of a bad chip on delivery are less than the chances it's been stuffed during the first install, plug the chip in wrong, have a solder bridge etc etc and power the xbox up then any one of these can blow the chip.

Check your switch against Whoopin's Schematic...a faulty switch causes a frag on my v1.6 xbox and boots to m$ dash on my v1.0 wheter the chip is on or off. A faulty switch is more likely than a faulty chip...

Forgetting some of my own advice. :)

Islander, odd tho that you got different results between the 1.0 and 1.6.

The layman's terms and directions are pretty much in this post of the thread - http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36327#post171781

You'll need a multimeter that will either measure Ohms (resistance) or continuity (complete circuit). You'll then want to check the pairs of pins listed in that post. Pin 1 is the pin furthest away from the small LED off/on switch.
