I just recieved the chip and supposed to be solderless(sp?) option and am very suprised to see that this thing isgoing to require some prety intricate soldering. Anyways, I am not going to moan about it, just lookin for some help. I just finished reading the install thread and didnt see anything related to the solderless option install. I havethe pin header installed and cant figure anything out from there. I see that the do/lan/HDD cable need to be soldered but cannot figure out y the heck all these other wires need to be on there? Solderless? Any ways, any helpwith this install wouldbe greatly appreiated.

evrything is solderless apart from the hdd and lan leds. if your using a xapter then you dont need th do the d0 cable.

If you're using the Xapter, you don't need to install the pin header.

You don't have to install the LAN/HDD cables for the chip to work, and as mentioned alreadt, the D0 doesn't need soldered. Read the link, it should shed some light!

That is a link to the chip that I bought. Unfortunately I did not order the product known as the xapter. Wish I had now. I thouroghly read the install guide and believe I can pull it off. I am getting a smaller tip for my gun tomorrow so.... If this chip I have bought is supposed to be solderless then just let me know. I am very new to this install stuff but very willing to learn. I will do some more search and studying tonight to make sure I do not waste anymore space on stupid questions that have been answered before. Thanks for the replys.

I looked on the site of purchase and it says that I should have recieved the xapter with my purchase. I have contacted and hope to hear from them in the morning.
Nice link to the proper install of the xapter!! Very good photos will make it easy.

if you have soldered the pin header in place you can't use the Xapter now - well not without desoldering the pin header anyway. Also I would say if you are going to desolder the pin header now you could run into more trouble. As you have soldered the pin header in place you are heading in the right direction anyway. To be honest a solder install is far more reliable than a solderless install anyway. Stick with it, take your time and go for the solder install. Make sure you take your time on the LPC rebuild - did you get the LPC rebuild board with your chip you should have done?

No LPC rebuild board. My friend has the xenium on his board that some one did the solder on and we opened his up to see the version and it was a 1.6 also. Looking at the install and we noticed a loose solder. We decided to try and fix it and somehow burned a hole in the board!! Ouch.... oh well. So I may just go the solderless way. I still havent heard from the company though so I may have to do it the old fashioned way. I read alot of threads last noght and feel even more confident that I know what to do, but may be lacking some soldering skills for some of the tiny solders required. I have been researching the flash bios and some "game sites". Have quite a few already just waiting to see which way I need to go on the chip. I greatly appreciate all the responses and hope to become an active member of the forums. Thanks again.
