2.6ce- No LED, frags when off-fine when off

Hey everybody.

I've got a 2.6ce on a 1.4 Xbox via wire install.

My question is this:
When I turn the Xbox on, I get nothing from the chip. No LEDs on the chip itself or the switch. I thought the chip wasn't on there right, but when I disable the chip, the Xbox starts up normally. When I enable it, it FRAGS.

So does that mean that the switch is faulty? Or does it mean that the chip is getting enough power to recognize that the switch is on/off? I assumed that if the chip can react to the switch, I would at-least get the blue LED light up.

Any ideas?

check over your install again and touch any points that you think may need it to ensure you have good connections throughout
make sure you didn't bridge any connections, use a magnifying glass if needed

also you can check that the cable from the external swtich the chip is connected properly to both chip and swtich

have you gone over all the solders as mk champion has said? does your box frag when it is chip enabled? does the eject button flash 3 times then stays on flashing? if so its either a bad solder job "most likely" or a switch problem, try the switch 1st all wires are tight,a different switch if possible,if that doesent work chek all solders that the chip sits in and the others,it is more likely to be the lan wires tidy them up with good lighting so you can see properly.hope this helped and you get it sorted soon :)

The fact that turning the mod on FRAGs your box at least tells you that the complete D0 circuit (from D0 to the chip to the switch bank back to the chip and finally to ground) is fine. No lights tells you that there is a 5v problem. Make sure you've got your switch cable plugs fully seated in the sockets. The 5v line is one of the middle wires in the plug, so if there is a bow to the plug (ends fully in but center not) you might not be getting a solid connection. Since you are not seeing any lights on the switch bank but you know the ground return is good because D0 works, the problem is somewhere between the 5v pin on the LPC and the switch bank. If you've got a multimeter and some knowledge of electrical circuitry I've got a link in my sig to my reverse engineering of the X2.6CE switch. It might help you to check where the 5v is failing.

The 5v off the motherboard should be easy to check. There are a few LPC testing diagrams around (don't recall if I've got a link in my sig, but I'll know in a minute. :)) so you can check where you *should* be getting that off of the LPC. Unplug your chip from the wire harness and take readings from the respective pins. Do make sure you are doing this in a way that won't allow the harness to short out on the motherboard or the metal shielding.
