I have done the pin header install with the LPC rebuild. When I boot from bank 2 i get a blank screen and when I boot from bank 1 it says xecuter 2 config live loading then on the screen where the xbox logo is on the bottom it says xecuter rox my box. Where is the cormwell bios screen where I can flash another bios???? I have not flashed anything on to this chip!

Thanks.

This chip has come preloaded with X2CL on bank 1 and FlashBIOS 3.0.3 on bank 2.

You cannot see FlashBIOS right now because of an incompatibility issue between 3.0.3 and the 1.6(a) Xbox.

There are ways to make it boot. It involves booting bank 2 and pressing the eject button until it comes up on screen. However, in light of the situation someone has saved you the trouble and already flashed X2CL to your chip - what did you want on there?

You can make a boot disk of a program called FlashX and reflash your chip with that.

The X2CL is a hacked BIOS that will allow your Xbox to do just about everything you want - except to have your dinner made each night when you return home!

The BIOS will allow your Xbox to load programs that are not by M$.

That's a link for a tut on how to use xbins. You can download a dash from xbins. I recommend the UnleashX dash. As well as Apps like pxHDDLoader. PxHDDLoader will copy games to your harddrive at the touch of a button.

ok - Time to get reading. There are guides for dashboard installation both here and Xbox-Scene.com

By the sounds of it, getting this chip pre-flashed has saved you about a day in posting n00b questions on how to flash etc!!

Well, the good news is that you have a 1.6 xbox, so you should have a samsung dvd-rom. Samsung dvd-roms read almost any cd/dvd you chuck at them. So you won't have any compatibility issues.

So go and download unleashX dash, and pxhddloader, and then download qwix from teamavalaunch.com Qwix is a great app for your pc, you use it to make and extract iso's. Iso's are what your xbox reads. Your xbox games are in ISO format.

Search for "download winrar" on yahoo, download winrar. You need winrar to extract all the .rar downlaods from xbins and also to extract qwix, as qwix is saved as qwix.rar when you have downloaded it. To extract with winrar, just right click on the file you want to extract, and click "extract to ..."

Then rename unleashx.xbe (in the unleash x dash folder) to default.xbe

Then cut and paste the pxhddloader folder into the unleashx dash folder.

Then open qwix, and click "create iso", click on "local folder" and then click the icon on the right of that to find the folder that you wnat to make an iso of. The folder that you want to make an iso of is "unleashx" (the unleashx dash folder). Then click "create iso". it will tell you when it's done.

Now open up nero6 or record now. Then if you're using nero6, there is a tutorial at the top right of the page www.teamxecuter.com on how to burn your iso to disc with nero6.

If you are using recordnow, it is sooo easy: just click on the disc icon, then click "burn an inage already on the harddrive", and sect "unleashx.iso" then insert the cd-rw, and click on the red circle at the bottom. When it's done, turn your xbox on, insert the cd. Turn your xbox off. Turn your xbox on again with the chip on/enabled, and it should load up unleashx.

Now just select "file explorer" and make a new folder called "Apps" in your E drive. Then copy all the files annd folders from the disc (D drive), to the E:Apps folder.

Then go into X2ConfigLive and set it to launch your dash: default.xbe in the E;Apps folder.

You can select pxhddloader from unleashX now, just select "Apps" and "pxhddloader". To copy games to your harddrive from here, just stick the game in your xbox, and press b, then press A. You can play the game from unleashX. Just select "games", "gta san andreas" or whatever the game is.

If this helps, please add to my rep, Thanks. :D

"Iso's are what your xbox reads. Your xbox games are in ISO format"

Statements like this are dangerous as it's untrue.

Files may be packed into an xISO for writing to a disk, but that's it. The Xbox cannot read them in this format, nor are games in ISO format unless you downloaded it.

Interesting, but games are in .iso fromat if you were to ftp them from your xbox to your pc though right? And when you ftp an iso to your xbox, it can play the game/app. You must know everything there is to know about xbox. Oh well at least I saved a bunch of questions from the beginner. Just trying to help.

Don't take offense to my post - it wasn't to ridicule. I just don't want some n00b wondering why when he copies the ISO file to a DVD it doesn't boot. Christ, we have enough of that already!!

"but games are in .iso fromat if you were to ftp them from your xbox to your pc though right"

Put an original game into your Xbox- ftp to it. Open the D drive. What do you see?

You're getting confused because Qwix (the program you're using) does all the creating and extracting of ISO's for you. Fact is, Xbox games are in GDF format. We use xISO to pack the CD/DVD image in such a way that the GDF format is retained.

Ok no offense taken, I know that you're just telling the facts and correcting things that were technically incorrect. Yes qwix was what made me believe that games are in .iso format.

I agree that I gave the impression that on a game disc there's a single file in iso format.

I did know before posting that games are several files including a default.xbe. I was just trying to explain to him that game discs are made from an iso file burnt as an image. And that the type of data disc that most people use to backup their word documents and photos etc won't work in an xbox, that it must be an iso disc.

Anyway I don't think he'll be asking why it doesn't work if he were to make a common type data disc (as above) with an iso file on it because I gave him the tutorial link for nero and specific instructions for recordnow.

lol don't bet on it!!

My comments regarding ISO files were to avoid confusion. Posting incorrect information is sometimes worse than posting nothing at all :)

Slayers is the quickest option, but make sure it's version 2.6. You need to format the drive, copy over the MS Dashboard files. You can then look into installing a different dashboard from there.

Thanks Martin C and FreakZilla!! I spent all night on the internet just reading about replacing HD and putting a new dashboard on.There are so many things out there now!!! I have download the Evox autoinstaller v2.6 slayer. And it came with a pretty nice manual. ONE LAST THING THOUGH I want to get as much info before I do anything else!!!! If i.....
1. Replace orignal HD with brand new WD 120gig HD
2. Burn the auto installer onto CDWR. Its already in ISO format.
3. Put in the CDWR in XBOX
4. Follow the manual on how to backup files....putting files on the drives and so on...

I should be good right???

Thanks Again!!
