Hello,

I am installing a 2.6CE modchip on my friends xbox. Although I have ran into a snag, I tried the LPC rebuild, but that didnt work, so I removed it to try the wire install. When the LPC came up, it took the d0 point and most of its trace with it. The circle is gone and the trace that was connecting to the circle is in the air. I do not know how to fix this, and I need to know pretty fast. Any help much appreciated.

That's not too good!

Unless you can trace from point to point, and rebuild each trace, then your motherboard is probably dead. (I assume it doesn't boot at all with the chip removed?).

This is how it was:

x----o X being some kind of resistor, o being the d0 point.

Now it is like this: x------ with the '-' in the air.

It does not boot, but could I soder the d0 wire to the side of the x for the chip to work?

Ok then!

So x isn't attached to o anymore? You will need to bridge the connections, as you've said, and then solder the D0 to 'o' or 'x'. As long as anything hasn't gone pop when the traces were destroyed, maybe it'll work?

No the X is still attached, but to o is completely gone. It isnt a matter anymore, he is just going to return it. Got to love Wal-mart. :)

Idiot. You took a chance modding when you obviously have no idea what you are doing, and now you are going to make Microsoft pay for your incompetence? I hope they check that when you try to return it.

By the way, that is a very easy thing to fix. If you could have been bothered to take 30 seconds and do a search you would find an excellent tutorial on this board, but apparently you are more inclined to have others pay for your stupidity.

Hey, jerk. I did search. Found nothing. I asked. Only one person responded. You didn't help. You didnt point me in the right direction. I could care less if microsoft pays for my mistake, they have before.

And BTW, if they dont accept the return, I am going to pay for his consol.

Wow, checking the FAQs and Tutorials link, of which the trace repair tutorial is the top sticky was really tough. You deserve a PHD for succeeding.

Sorry I didn't respond in your apparently required four hour time frame, I guess I should sit here and browse this forum 24/7 to make sure people incapable of searching will have answers immediately if not sooner.

Why do people have this sense of entitlement? Did mommy and daddy always make things better when you screwed up? So you don’t see anything wrong with making others pay for your incompetence?

Look pal, I asked a simple question. I did a simple search. I dont browse these or any forum 24/7 either, so I did not find it right off. I asked a question, because my friend needed to know that day. We didnt get an answer, so we decided to take it back. Now I have you in here talking like you are the new god of enlightenment, simply because his xbox was under a 30 UNCONDITIONAL warrenty.

You didn't help when I asked, your not helping now.

Oh ya, and I have no sense of entitlement. I always fix my own mistakes. That is why I am going to pay for his xbox, if WALMART doesnt take it back.

Then why did you, after waiting only 4 hours decide that nobody was going to help?

Unconditional? So Microsoft was only joking when they put that sticker that says "Warranty void if removed" over a screw to open the case?

How is returning it to Walmart fixing YOUR mistake? After all, you are the one that screwed up.

Now now guys - there's no need to get into a slagging match over this!! There's abosulutely no need for name calling either. We all make mistakes from time to time.

I still can't understand why you won't attempt to fix the problem by yourself - it's only a broken trace!

Like I said - I find it very hard to believe that Walmart will accept you returning the faulty Xbox. That's why you should try and fix it yourself, before paying for the Xbox from your own pocket.

Look, I would have waited days, even weeks for you, or anyone else to respond. It was my friend who was in a rush, and decided that it would take to long, and that he would just rather return it.

I think you need a lesson in economics. He is returning it to WALMART, so your precious microsoft will get its money either way.

I dont know. I was more than willing to fix it. He didnt want to wait, so he decided it would be faster to fix it.

He is the one giving me crap about a decision my friend made

You may think I am talking in third person when I am talking about my friend, but he really did not want to wait. So I suggested he take it back to Walmart, and if they dont take it, I will fix it for him.

Well, I used to know a guy who would always do this, break it and then take it back. I always found it funny how walmart would take it back repeatedly. As for paying for it, well he is a really good friend of mine, and I told him that if I messed up I would pay for it.

That is funny! I can't help but laugh - you make it sound like he broke Xbox's as a hobby!

To be honest, I wouldent doubt if he did. I think I counted 10-15 in which he took back.
Successful modifications then..............!
