2.6CE or the 3CE....

Hi folks,

I've installed a 3CE on a friends 'box and was very impressed!

However, I'm wondering if my next installation I should go for a 2.6CE as its cheaper.

The obvious difference is less memory on the 2.6CE (which is fine) but I don't want to lose the 'inbuilt chip o/s' (for want of a better term) - i.e. the menu that allows you to change the 3D flubber stuff and the location of the boot dash etc.

So my question is, does the 2.6CE have the same bios menu that thing that I liked from the 3CE, or was that a 3CE only feature (in which case, I'll have to get the extra cash arranged)?

What are the other main differences between the two?

Many thanks for your help :)

L.

Sorry, I had a brain fart....

I've just remembered the menu that I'm referring to must have been the Xecuter menu which is presumably on both the 2.6CE and the 3CE (I don't have the machine here to test and it was a while ago).

So the question remains, what are the other main differences between the two, apart from the extra memory and the external switches and USB interface?

basically the primary difference between X2.6 CE and X3 CE is it's built in "config live" in the bios which allows ftp options, formatting hard drive and all other sorts of stuff that you cant get with the X2.6 CE modchip.

this is pretty much the only thing that makes the X3 better then the x2.6 chip.

to sum it up it's "easier" to get up and running when your first installing the modchip... besides this there pretty much the same..... and the fact the X3 modchip has a "backup bios" on it which the X2.6 dont have.

bottom line... if your low on cash get the x2.6 ... if money aint a issue get the x3... u wont go wrong with either choice ;)

Thanks dude - went for the 2.6CE to see what its like for future installs where they won't pay the extra.

Seemed to be having difficulties at the moment though - have started another thread....
