ive installed a 2.6ce wire install on a 1.1 board since the pin header i left attached to another 1.6b board.. and no matter what bank i try, the mod chip doesnt work.
it just boots to the regular MS dashboard like the chip aint even installed..

the chip lights up blue, and the front switches all light up and all that stuff but other then that its dead...

any ideas, suggestions, fixes, experience?

Not on this planet!
You loaded an extra dash? or do you want the bios to do that for you?

You will need to load extra on your box to get the full benifit otherwise it will only boot a stock dash!

well my old chip when it booted would say executer2 on startup.. how can i even tell the mod is working cause it seems like its not.

i thought when u first kick a modded xbox on now it brings you to a flash screen..

After a succesful install you should get a flashbios screen (3.01 on bank1/3.03 on bank2). If you haven't flashed a hacked bios (ie: x2_5035, x2_5032 etc...) yet, and you're booting to a m$dash instead of flashbios, then it's either a d0 connection problem or a switch problem. Same thing happened to me and I found out that the switch is my problem.

The switch that came with the modchip itself, at first I thought that the switch is good because the lights are on. I just found out the switch problem when I tried my chip on a different xbox and it worked , I then tried the other switch and it worked as well.

Im not sure if it is the switch because i tried it on an 1.6b xbox ..when mod was switched on
it would flash red.... when off it booted fine..thats why i went to an older xbox version.
now with the old xbox (1.1) nothing happens at all.. when switch is on/off it just acts like a regular
xbox..

is there a way to buy the switch only..

thanks for all the support so far too.

If this is the case then it is really a switch problem. Mine used to fragged on my v1.6 box and works fine when the chip is disabled.
Tried it on my v1.0 box and as you said it just acts as a regular box whether the chip is on or off.

Check the resellers on the Xecuter's homepage, I've seen there that they're selling it for $5.

For the meantime, if you want to try using your chip without the switch... check the link below:

Just because it isn't mentioned here... when you moved the chip from the 1.6 to the 1.1, you *did* transfer over the D0 wire right? The only place D0 was previously mentioned was in one of Islander's posts. Has anyone checked this on their problem installs?

what do you mean.. excuse my stupidness.
i disconnected all the wires from the 1.6b.
and then on the back of the 1.1 i did the hd, lan, and the d0
from the 3 wire little plug. is that what you were talking about?

I ordered a new switch.. i hope thats it. :p

Yeah, D0. It wasn't mentioned and it is a must when installing a chip.

If you're still seeing "Microsoft" under the Xbox logo on boot then you're still booting the BIOS from the motherboard. Generally this is a problem with the D0 circuit somewhere. If your switch is enabled you should have continuity between the D0 point and system ground. If not the motherboard won't know to try and boot off of the LPC port. This problem could reside in the D0 solder point, a damaged chip-to-switch cable, cable plugs not being fully inserted or problem switches.

OK here is the update.. i got the new switch today.
hooked it up and eureka it loaded right to the mod flash screen.

the NEW problem i have is that there are a bunch of options within the flash bios screen but the joypad wont let me scroll down to load bios from disc..
anyone know whats up with that?

when i disable mod and load to MS skin the joypad works fine.

Try a standard Microsoft controller, and remove the DVD dongle if you have it plugged in.

You aren't loading a Microsoft skin, you are loading the Microsoft dashboard.

What problem do you have? There were a few mentioned in this thread. Did you test the switches with a multimeter?
